Brandi, I've got a son and step daughter who are two months apart in age. And despite being intellectually gifted, my son just isn't as mature as my (step)daughter.

Considering girls get to be kids for an average of only 12 years...I'd say the men are milking it for all they can.

Yes, I think girls mature faster than guys, physically. Because of that they are subjected to adult oriented issues before the boys. They must learn how to deal with female puberty and all the facets that accompany that stage of life. They are subjected to boys teasing them about developing breasts, looking up their skirts, pulling their hair, crude jokes, etc.

Remember, boys do not understand why their mind goes wacky when the young nubile girl is present. Eventually, during teen years, when the boys mind moves it's location to his crotch, only then does he start to catch up on the maturity stuff. So, guys are always several years behind in developing a maturity similar to the female. It is only when the guy finally gets married does he catch up on maturity, because then he realizes how much of the good stuff he missed. (hehe)

I am not sure about that, but he could be tied with my honey for the biggest baby though.

No they do not mature with marriage, the toys just get more expensive because they are now "established and respected" and can get loans from the bank for the toys they want now.

Absolutely yes.

I've read articles that have talked about this in biological terms and there are apparently scientific as well sociological reasons for this.

But as for my best reasons for knowing this is true... I have two girls and I see it every day.

I think girls mature faster than boys. Here's the thing about why nothing has been done about boys maturing slower----cause society is male oriented (which sucks for women). Teachers in our school systems begin to cater to the "slower" males around junior high level. This happens to be the same time girls begin to get lower grades in math and science oriented classes. If there are one-gender class rooms girls continue to excel in those areas, and the boys catch up. A theory on this is that since the boys are getting the attention and the speed of the material taught is slowed down to the boys' level, the girls get bored and therefore their grades drop. Pretty sad I think.

In my opinion, that door can go either way. I believe I matured faster than my older sister. Now I know alot of women/girls/ladies who "matured" earlier, but also a lot of us guys who matured earlier.
I think that women appear to "mature" earlier, from an appearance stand point. Boys will always be boys. We might get older but are still boys in some fashion. I guess it really just depends on the circumstances and conditions for each individual and their enviroment. I guess I "matured" faster than most other guys because I had to and because I chose to see things differently alot earlier on than most.
