Do you read erotica aloud with your lover?

I am always surprised when I ask this of people I know IRL, and they say no.

Long ago, one of my lovers started reading erotica aloud with me, particularly stories that lent themselves to a two part reading, and then we started writing to each other - often reading the finished results aloud.

I continued to write - stories intended to be read only in private - and a few years ago, one of my lovers suggested I check out Lit. The stories I submit to Lit have little, if any, autobiographical inspiration. . . I still keep those stories private, between my lover and me.

But some of the rest of you authors have provided fodder for some very hot sessions for me, so I just wondered, do you read erotica aloud with your lover?

I've read them over the phone to an ex before. Goooood conversations.

My other ex didn't have any interest in my writings whatsoever, let alone introducing them into sex. She didn't hate them or dislike the fact that I wrote, she just couldn't care less about them and only offered to read them "if I really wanted her to." Which kinda defies the point.

So, I haven't read them with a partner in the bedroom, but it's not through lack of willing.

before lucky and i got together all we had were telephone conversations...
we talked for hours a day. she was a night owl and i had to go to bed fairly early so, she would read me all her stories over the phone until i feel asleep.
i cherish those memories.

I love to read out loud..both my poetry and stories (those posted here and elsewhere). Some of my favorite memories of reading stories to my ex girl...even plain old mundane ones....

She was a great listener...

I used to make up stories and tell them before I started writing them. Poems? Pffft. Nobody cares about poems.....

I recently tried reading my Earth Day story to my boyfriend, and he laughed. :(

Later he explained to me that he's more visual, and responds better to porn videos rather than the words of erotica. It's his loss.

I'm very visual, too and I like porn - as long as it's not kiddie porn or snuff flicks. But somehow, being able to use my imagination, put myself in the part of a female character in the storyline, and lose myself in the tightly woven fabric of imagery is just so sensual.

You're right - it's his loss. . .
