Hi there. I wondered if someone could offer some insight here because I was so looking forward to Xbox gaming with a hi def tv, and so far I'm really disappointed with this one I've just got. I got a Samsung 32" LA32A330 (television) for $1000NZ. It has a response time of 6ms and a contrast ratio of 8000:1. The problem is the motion blur is quite bad, and when playing Bioshock for example which is mostly in the dark, the shadows and dark areas appear all washed out. The black's no where near black. And it gets worse toward the corners of the screen. I understand that's a problem with LCDs in general but this seems really bad to me. Also, the sound is... uninspiring.
I could get used to it (it's awesome playing with high resolution) if you told me that's all just par for the course for an LCD in that price range. But I can't help wonder if I'd have been better off getting some other brand, or the next model up in quality. Everything I've looked at though has comparable specs... usually 8ms response time and around 10000:1 contrast ratio.
I guess I'm just looking for input to help me judge whether I've got a good one or a dud. I have a week to return it but that's no good if I don't know if any other model will be any different.
What model do you have and do you like it?
Another thing, should you be able to change the resolution (720p to 1080i) because it doesn't look like I can?
Thank you, I'd appreciate any input.
