My guys like a, made from scratch, German Chocolate Cake. The problem is that I have to bake it. Not that I mind doing it, but I fear I will make a mistake and it will stink. One time I left an ingredient out and had to make two. I made one tonight and for some reason it didn't rise like it usually does. I hope it tastes good because right now it is a short, lopsided, mess.

No traditions....

But, it's smart to never compare....

Just smile and eat it.....

For pretty much all through my teens I wanted as much chocolate in/on my cake as possible so we would make a normal chocolate cake with chocolate icing then cover it with various crushed chocolate candy bars. Since then though I think I’ve had a cookie cake almost every year.

My grandpa actually didn’t like icing that much so his tradition was always to have a lemon cake with no icing.

Chocolate coma. :D So are you talking an oreo cake? I could go for that. I like a white cake. I usually say - like a wedding cake - with more of a whipped frosting. I'm not picky though.

Spread it on vanilla ice cream....

I try to have a tradition of no cake. I don't like cake. But other people seem to. So there is cake. :(

I can still see the cut out picture in my head from one of those Family Circle type magazines. It was a regular box cake but you poke holes in it and then you pour strawberry jell-o in the cake and let it set up. Topped with whipped cream.

Later the cake I would request was a lemon pound cake baked in a bundt pan and glazed with lemon glaze.

Hadn't thought about that in years til you asked.

My tradition is to quietly celebrate that day without fanfare.

Yes there is cake. 1 slice. No particular preference.

My mom used to have the local cakemaker make me a different superhero every years. Then, it went to chocolate cake with raspberry soda, and a Cool-Whip icing.

put arsenic in the frosting - no one will complain.

Not a Birthday tradition but my grandmother made the best chocolate cake. I don’t think anyone has the recipe.
She could bake but her cooking was not to be desired.
She also had no problem whacking you one, if you misbehaved.
She wasn’t very grandmother-y
