When you post under multiple IDs on multiple boards, sites and forums across the web that are focused on different topics, do you use the same writing style? Do you use the same words, terms and phrases that may be unique enough to come up in search engines?

Or do you intentionally try to vary how you say things?

Don't worry about it, no one really cares what your other names are.

There's this whole outside world, with sunshine, and snow sometimes, and birds and people!

Honestly, it exists. It's not that bad.

Oh, well. People were bound to find out eventually.

More than 12 years, that's a good long run for an alt, by my calculations, the third longest running alt in Lit history. Fourth if you count Jerry, I mean Dixon Carter Lee.

From my perspective there is only two reasons to try to hide who you are while rattling your jaws on a message board:
1) You say things that you will not/can not in RL.

My interwebs policy is that if I say it here, I'd say it to your face in RL. I've never tried to be something or someone I'm not, never even wanted to try it either.

2) you're afraid.

Some are scared of their own shadow for no other reason then it's following them. Some have anxiety problems, while still other's like to play the devil and are afraid of the repercussions. At my age and the things I've been through in life not much scares me until it does. Not because I'm an overly brave soul who is fearless, but because I've learned that fear is a good thing when there is something to fear, but a bad thing when you let it consume your life.

Well, so much for my verbosity for the week. Time for work.

hasta la vista, Auf Wiedersehen , Au Revoir, Vaarwel, slán....:)

...Que?

Good point. I would never have guessed those 2 alts belonged to you untill you told us some time ago.
But then, you're a writer, and not a Querri

Disappointing. I thought this was going to be a thread about the U2 song.

I've been the same guy with essentially the same user name almost everywhere. I did use a few alts back in the day but that was more for security reasons than anything. Internet life could get a little hairy back then.
I get tired of a site I don't retire one name and come back as another, I just leave. Couple of times I left with a bit of a flourish but the people involved sort of had it coming and I don't feel bad about it although I probably should.
