Do you find sleep or does it find you?

I have never ever fallen asleep unless I was ready to. Never in front of the TV, at the movies (cept Chariots of Fire). In fact miles of travel on the thought train is a pre-requisite for sleep...

I sometimes envy people who can fall asleep at the drop of the hat.

Do you have to search for sleep or do you find yourself waking up in the middle of a show?

Both, at different times, Jersey.

Sometimes I can't stay awake even if I'm interested in what's on TV, but then again, right now I'm sleep deprived, so that may have a lot to do with it. Other nights, I'm exhausted, but end up restlessly tossing for hours.

Sometimes I wish I had an on/off switch. But then, how would I get back on? *grins* Ignore me. Rambling now...

dont laugh but I've actually imagined going around my brain and shutting off all the lights and power switches

how to get it back on? Environmental influences make sure it doesnt stay off for too long...

I used to do the self-hypnosis thing when I really couldn't sleep, telling each of my body parts to go to sleep. I always stopped at my head, though, cause even though it's ridiculous, I'd think that I shouldn't suggest it go to sleep cause I'd end up stopping all my involuntary functions.

Yes, the power of my mind is THAT strong.

:D

I go on 4-5 hours a night. I to envy those that can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. My dad could fall asleep on a rollercoaster. I played cards with a narcaleptic once. That was one long game of cribbage.

I find sleep... It only takes five minutes from when I hit the bed to find total somanbulance.

hehe...'strong' isnt exactly the word that came to my mind:p

but yeah, relaxing the body is the first requirement...I used to imagine my body slowly filling with sand, like an hour glass. I was always quite relaxed then...

But then to try and think about nothing is always fruitless..

You're absolutely right. During those long, cool nights sleeping outside on the upper deck at the beachhouse, I don't think I ever had a problem with staying awake, unless I wanted to.

:)

I have trouble falling asleep when I go to bed. But if I make the mistake of lying on the couch while I watch TV, I'm guaranteed to fall asleep within an hour.

Try reading "On Walden Pond" sometime, that will put you to sleep before the first two chapters are over. If that doesn't work, chamomile tea is good.
