Yes to both.

During the summer I get my carrots from my garden. I try to pull them before they get longer than 7" so that they're still young. The flavor is intensely rich as compared the the grocery store crap that is (#1) hybridized, and (#2) so pumped with nitrogen fertilizer as to be almost tasteless.

I grew almost all 'heritage' vegetables this year. What a difference in flavor!!!!!

and i love guacamole, but i hate feeling heartburn all the way down followed by terrible gas and bloody shit and occasionally a bloaty feeling that only ends with the blood and/or me forcing myself to puke.

though, hey, at least my throat doesn't swell up like this chick i talked to who is actually allergic to avocados in the proper sense because i've experienced that with penicillin.

that's my issue with raw carrots unless they're good and chopped up nice and small. i do love them cooked, though. a roast without carrots is not a roast.
