Speaking of Jesus Christ, the bible, etc.

there is specific scripture that weighs in on both sides of the argument.

I know some Christian denominations preach that if you are not "saved", you go to hell. No matter what.

Other denominations are more lenient on the matter.

I'm not here to argue if there is or isn't a god.

But do you believe you have to be saved in order to go to heaven. And the rest get pulled into hell?

As an Appalachian snake handler, I believe that physical contact with a diamondback rattlesnake is necessary for ascension to Heaven. The cottonmouth handlers are heretics that deserve to have the flesh roasted off of their bones for eternity in the bowels of Perdition.

Just my two cents.

Ah, but you see Blob, the Australian Taipan disproves all your theory as hogwash.

God recently told me to take a gold cross and shove it up my ass.

I obeyed him, but wonder why he asked me to do that.

rofl!

That's how he's always described "us" native West Virginians when he first moved here, as snake handlers. I was so mad when he told his family he was marrying a southern Baptist (I'm just regular ole Baptist)

Do you need some kind of counseling? LOL:kiss:

See, I find that intriguing.

You immediately take this guy's word to be dubious.

Maybe he's being serious like you religion fruit loops and really believes in what he's said.

And yet, you immediately ridicule him.

See the irony?

I feel much better now. Totally vindicated. Even the fruit loops end up doing what I do. I'm just more honest about it.

:)

Your question supposes one would first have to believe in life after death.

I don't.

I don't believe there's a place called heaven, nor a place called hell. I think they are states of being, and as such, we get a little bit of each in our lifetimes. After that we're worm food.

Exquisition, I really like TonyClifton and I try to post when he has a thread. I was just giving him a hard time. If he wants to shove crosses up woman I guess I'll just *facepalm* and love him anyway. I would hope that he gets consent.

As for me being a religious fruit loop, I guess there are worse things.

Oh, have you ever heard a thunder storm while it was snowing? It is really strange and it is happening here.

Ha! Part of my mother's side is from West Virginia, but there aren't any snake handlers that I know of. They're all holler folk stump jumpers.

i like to ask the hell and brimstone christians, "what about all those people in the past and now who never heard of your faith who died, did they go to hell? isn't that a bit unfair? and if they aren't in hell, then why should i follow your way at all?"

Yep, pretty much. (John 3:16)

A belief in John 3:16 doesn't necessarily imply a "yes" answer to that question.

Even as a little kid in Catholic schools, it never made any sense to me that all people in non-Christian countries (which is most of the world) were doomed for all eternity.

Of course, folks who believe that are also pretty dubious about the salvation of Catholics.

...yes

Who said Religion was fair Wrong? You've got to be in it to win it, as they say. Babies and any poor soul who was never baptised through no fault of their own is going to Hell. It's all part of God's love for hi people.

The logic is pure genius.

TryHarder, to be fair you seem a little more rational than the super zealots. A little more balanced, which is to your credit.
