Do you all believe in Karma?

I have a quick story to tell some of you. This is "on my honor" a true story.

I met a guy back in 1976 who was one of the crudest/rudest people I'd ever met.

I met him at a disco that was also the place that I met my husband of 35 years.

He was also a friend of my husband's and hung out in the group of friends that I enjoyed...often did construction work for my husband on occasion.

Going out in public with him was often embarrassing as he would go into some shtick...mimicking people who had various diseases/conditions such as cerebral palsy.

He thought this was hilarious. He was also a bully and I am sure that his schoolmates back in the day had their lives affected greatly by him.

Well, at the age of 50, and busy with his hard-earned business in HVAC heating/cooling and repair business....one day he was stepping down off a ladder.

Well, his foot didn't seem to work right and he landed on his ass.

I'm making a long story short here....he was diagnosed with ALS...and within a year he was dead.

My husband and I were absolutely stunned.....shocked.....yet remembered all those times he pulled his favorite shtick....offending so many around him who had family or friends affected by this and other diseases and showing no respect for anybody who was suffering.

Husband and I noted that the few months before he died...his head hung, drooling, over the side of his wheelchair. His hands were atrophied and he spoke just like he did when he mimicked those truly sick people....

He actually became one of those he'd laughed at all his life.

The last time we spent with him before he died, we could not understand a word he said.

Our friend absolutely died with a disease he thought was funny to mimic for most of his life for laughs.

I think some people here on this board should take heed....my story is absolutely true and I'd hate to see any of you go thru CANCER, OBESITY, STROKE, HEART ATTACK or any other condition that can destroy your life.

...and have mercy for other's. I don't care if you believe their illness or not.

Thanks.

Karma is a bitch.

You can run from it, but you can't hide.

Too many truly evil and ignorant folk prosper or live to ripe old ages for me to believe in karma in this life. Too many good people or innocent children die.

Wyrd is a concept in Anglo-Saxon culture roughly corresponding to fate or personal destiny. Mentions of wyrd in Old English literature include The Wanderer, "Wyrd bið ful aræd" ("Fate remains wholly inexorable") and Beowulf, "Gæð a wyrd swa hio scel!" ("Fate goes ever as she shall!"). In The Wanderer, wyrd is irrepressible and relentless. She "snatches the earls away from the joys of life," and "the wearied mind of man cannot withstand her" for her decrees "change all the world beneath the heavens".

Oh lawdy....just when I think I'm finally beating down the enormous stack I have of things to do.....

...you give me something else I've just GOT to read about!

...at least I always remember to feed the cat.

I don't believe in Karma. Instead I believe in fate. As in; Fate will stick her fingers into your life and wiggle them just to see what happens. And if you draw attention to yourself by your actions/words then Fate may decide to take a closer look at what she has wrought. And stick those fingers in and wiggle them again.

Is it fun to believe in that stuff?

Well I don't know exactly how much fun it is, but it's certainly more fun than contemplating how to outwit dust bunnies. Something I suck at BTW.

Plus, it gives me someone/thing to blame when thing go tits up. As long as I don't do that TOO loudly that is. I wouldn't want to incur any of that close inspection I mentioned earlier, ifyaknowhatImean. ;)

All in all, it keeps me on my toes and dancing.

To those who agree as Pink said...."You get what you put out".

I suppose the use of the word "Karma" puts some people off.

Pink said it best.

I just wanted people to understand the actions/thoughts/consequences of making fun of/wishing/ thinking such negative and damaging things about people.

Sheesh...I sound like I need to join a Wat.

But I'm serious folks...show some compassion. :)

my version of karma Pascal would approve of. Essentially I believe that if I do harm to others it will be Revisited upon me. I however do not believe that if I do good for others it will come back to me because my experience is no good deed goes unpunished. Not that you shouldn't do good deeds but be aware of that it's going to bite you.

I do not however, believe is to be counted on for punshing those that I might have feel have wronged me so I don't assume that's going to happen. Not that I have not an occasion been known to help Karma long in that respect but all of that kind of thing is toxic and only hurt you.

Conager...you are one of the most insightful people I've met on this board.

....I just don't know what else to say. :):rose:

I don't want to make references to the GB, since that would be disingenuous - I behaved badly too.

But it's a brand of 'humour' that many comedians and reporters nowadays seem to cultivate.

Now I chuckled too, when I saw Michelle's rolled up dress which made it look like she had a penis. But not when they likened her to an ape, or they claimed that Melania used to be a whore. Or that "joke" about lynching Obama, or Katie Griffin holding an imitation of Trump's severed head.
And I can't open any entertainment magazine without seeing some "reporter" laughing at celebrities who aged badly or so on.

With such role models, is it any wonder that the threshhold keeps decreasing?

.

Exactly.

Karma is just another meaningless platitudes like everything happens for a reason, when one door closes another one opens, every dog has its day, and so on.

Fala that was written perfectly. We are far from religeous. But even some of my first stories are about Angels and Karma. We lived by our user name. Many things we've done are stupid and dangerous.

Like the old saying, we walked alone. We saw no other footprints. Yet there were times and places where we were in danger and someone came along to save us. These someones were real people. Real people who were not there until we were in possible danger. Real people who were gone when they weren't needed.

Many other times something changed what might have happened. Many times good things happened that could have become bad. We've been on the wrong side of many towns yet no one harmed us. My wife has been pronounced dead at least three times, yet she lives and does things younger women can no longer do.

I died of heart failure and actually saw a light. Maybe it was a spotlite in ICU. I don't believe in God so who knows? I had heart failure again. That's why our kids moved us back to the midwest. Doctors said I'd need a pacemaker and my heart was pumping like 10%. Later there was no damage and I have a normal heart. I have no answers why.

Everything we write is true. That's why much of it is so unbelievable. Sometimes we shake our heads and wonder if that was really us.

Yes, we believe in angels and we believe in Karma, or whatever people wish to call it. Hell maybe they are good Aliens. Just don't be sticking pins in a doll that looks like me!

We hear and read that we are liers. We don't care what others believe. We are here for a short time and are trying to share our sordid past and encourage others to try a few simple games. At least we attempt to keep it sort of pornographic.

I think so too.
But it helps to believe in it.
Like recently when I found out that someone who I felt wronged me got burnt big time. So I kept jumping on one foot in joy, and putting it down to Karma.

No, I don't believe in karma.
Someone who does something bad is just a person who does bad things - and their life isn't going to do a 180 and suddenly be awful because of something bad they did 25 years ago.
I have learned to cut people like that from my life completely, which is my way of dealing with it - but they always have like-minded people they can be around. Bad attracts bad, but only because good don't want to be around them.

bravo! warrior queen, I've always enjoyed you here! :rose:

Wicca has a threefold rule. Evil or good will be returned to you threefold.
