Do we have any other serious guitar players here?

I used to play, but I was crap at it. Unfortunately didn't practice enough. :( Considering taking it up again though. :)

Play the piano since I was 6, does that count? :)

I don't really play guitar, I play bass.

I play classical, jazz, rock.

If it counts for anything.

Both of those count

I am not judging by how good you are, just how much you love it.

I was taught the classical route, so I do prefer to play that. :) Good way of learning new techniques and improving skills. I haven't played much lately as I don't really have much access to a piano. :(

If I move to London permanently I'll try to see if I can ship over my keyboard at least!

I play 80's metal and 60's/70's rock. I love neo-classical stuff. Right now I want to learn country so bad. You have to hear Brad Paisley. He is a monster on the guitar.

Paul

I learnt a little classical guitar, never practised enough though. I prefer the more immediate results I can get with my computer.

I am an extremely serious guitar player.

I am not good enough to joke around while I play.

LOL TWB!

I am a self taught blues rock guy. Been playing 30 years. Im ok.

ROTFLMAO

HA! Methinks, hell, me-KNOWS you're being just a tad too modest there bluesie-boy. Try again...

i'm pretty good i suppose. i donj;t have any particular style i play in, though. i tend to switch up from blues to jazz to rockabilly to rock to wahtever goes through my head. the best guitar for all of it though is the ever worthy les paul.

Ive been playing about as long as you. I play a lot then put it down only to pick it up a month later.:) Im always amazed that after not playing for a month or so, I seem to have learned something by not playing.:)

I was just going to ask if any other guitarists had that phenomenon happen to them. I become better the less I try to suffer through daily playing. I only play when I want and that can even mean three month gaps. I get better and better at it.

Also, I find that if I am tyring to pick up a lick I can't get or trying something new and it is starting to piss me off, if I set it down, and come back in a week, I've learned it without trying really. I think you have to give your brain time to adapt to what you are trying to learn. This applies to me with visual art work too. My work and style is drastically evolving all of the time, but the idea is that I am getting.... BETTER! :D

Yeah for time!

Oh, and yes, I am pretty serious about it even though I've only been playing for about 7 years. I own three quitars. One is an Ibanez accoustic 'folk' quitar (meaning the neck key is tighter than normal making the strings rest higher from the frets causing a more classic, tinny sound, one is a junker, and the other is a specialty made 68 Solid body Washburn electric accoustic, but the pick up, which fucking annoyingly sits right under the bridge is fucked up and needs replaced.

I play 2 hours a day everyday no matter what

Even if I am watching TV I make myself play

Believe it or not, I just got through putting strings on my SG.

I used to be serious. Probably from the time I was 17 until the time I was 35 I played the very least 5 or 6 hours a week. Then I began teaching.

But I am making it a point to try to get back into it. So many of my friends are musicians so why not?

I am a rock & roller. I love blues, R&B, punk, noise. If I can play it- I love it.

I need a new amp something fierce but I blew the money on the camera. Well, that old crate sucks, but it still works and I got my cry baby and distortion pedal. It will work.

well i thought of playing guitar. Long time ago

Johnny Winter would be proud. :)

Guitars and guitar players are way cool.

I've been toiling for 30 years myself. Learned from a Beatles songbook with charts. Unlike the violin or other instruments, you can get gratification instantly from a guitar no matter how green you are. It's not like making a cool noise takes years of practice.

I wish I was a better lead player, I've played with some truly amazing shredders. Guys that can do Edward make me jealous. Guys that can slam out a chord like Townsend inspire me. There's nothing like a bone-crushing A-chord from a Les Paul through a cranked Marshall with nothing in between. Few things give me as much pleasure, if any. Pure, thick, creamy, crunchy chords, Glowing output tubes spitting and snarling with reply to my leather fist.

I need to go play with myself.

yeah? That's 'cause you rubbed it all over my.... :)

Do it again but twang the strings next time.. ooh!

I wish I could play:

with the versatility of Page,

the confident abandon of Hendrix,

the beauty of B.B.,

the all out cantankerousness of Vaughn,

the toys of Edward,

There's gotta be more players around here.
