The "War on Poverty" is , what, 60 years old? My region has one of the highest rates of "poverty". The "war" is lost, and doing more of the same is the definition of insanity. I think the poverty problem is an education problem. Isn't the goal of the government school system to create an independent, self sufficient population? I do think a big part of poverty is just being bad with money, not necessarily`not having enough money. It seems like poor people are the raison d'être for many politicians. It seems that it is in politicians best interest of politicians to perpetuate the cycles of poverty. Sadly, of all the candidates, Donald Trump seems the most interested in individual prosperity. The Democrats do not seem to trust individuals with their own resources nor to make their own decisions.
