That go around in circles? I always wanted one. They're probably remotely controlled by now.

Here's one:

599.99. Holy crap. Is that with cars?

The DIGITAL 132 series receiver allows users to select up to 6 different cars controlled via ultra-light, wireless control handsets, and the power supply for the recharging units is drawn from the racetrack. The recharging units can be integrated into the circuit at any desired point by hooking up to the adapter unit or the control unit. This now allows Carrera drivers even greater flexibility, precision and reliability. Lane-changer bends can also be purchased separately, for the first time facilitating spectacular overtaking manoeuvres in the bends and producing even more realistic racing action.

Check the Nieman Marcus catalogue this year there is an outrageous one in it ...makes the $600 one sound really really cheap

Actually...
For the $300,000 yes you read that correctly $300,000 the set costs you a real race car driver will come to your house for the first night party.

Yeah. I started to put it on my list...but decided Santa probably couldn't fit it down the chimney anyway.

It sounds like they send a team of architects to your home and recreate a scale replica of whatever course you prefer. I'd rather have a fleet of Rav4's instead.

Are you talking like Slot Cars? $75 at Walmart

I remember when these things first came out back when I was in high school. Some hobby stores set up elaborate multi-lane layouts in a corner or basement of the store and held leagues and everything else.

Watching the guys who were really into it run those cars bumper to bumper at top speed through every single corner had me wondering how long it took to train that degree of muscle memory in one's index finger.

I figured that for about half the time they must have put in to get that good, a chimpanzee could have learned to be a concert pianist.

I still have an original scalextric set packed away in a box safely.
Btw - only a few people can actually pronounce the name correctly, so for a while the company considered changing it.
You can still buy components that match up to the original set. Probably the only 'set' of toys that you can add to without having any issues between new and old.

Sometimes, the boys will set up the track thro the house..... we have enough to go right thro every room and around the furniture. Measured it once. If every piece is used the 4-lane track is 72 meters long. Needs 3 power-boost boxes to run it!

The Scalextric brand is owned by Hornby Hobbies, based in Margate, Kent.

They have an on-site sale a couple of times a year.

I bought a scalextric version of the London Olympics Velodrome, with bicycles instead of cars. My youngest granddaughter loves it.

They now do Micro-Scalextric for smaller houses. The Simpsons set is due out soon:

Would I have to run a bloody extension cord to Bloody England?
