Do squirrels love air conditioning?

I am sitting about six feet away from a patio door that leads to my deck. Twice now in the last 10 minutes or so, a cute little squirrel has come to the patio door and looked in at me, almost to say "please open the door and let me in!" This last visit he actually put his feet on the screen and stood up against it, looking in at me.

I tried to decide if he was looking for food, water, maybe a cat to tease on the other side of the screen door. But I really think he just wants to get into the air conditioning of my house. It is hot out there! :D

My bird, a cockatiel and not very smart in other ways.. when it gets to hot in here for his taste, goes over to the ac unit and starts tapping at the buttons. Luckily they turn, and he hasn't figured that out yet.

but he hates the heat.
Once it is on he stands in front of it, there's a table there, and spreads his wings to cool off. The nut.

What, no one else has hot squirrels in their yard? :p

edit: Ack! You snuck that post in there Merelan.
A bird that knows the A/C controls? You're in trouble if he ever figures out how to teach the cat to turn the knobs.

I have squirrels, but since I live in the city they are kinda big and scary and carry weapons.

I don't know about the squirrels liking the a/c.

Whenever, I see squirrels they would be running all over the trees, they perfer the shade and all I saw them do was go and collect food.

On a side note, are there really chipmonks , or am I am thinking about Chip and Dale ?!?

no squirrel's

at our house , but we have 2 fox dens just across the road and we have counted as many as 7 in the yard at one time 2 have come right up and looked in the front window.

I have two Eclectus parrots (male and female Vosmaeri ), two Eastern Rosellas, two parrotlets, and an indoor flight with cockatiels, Bourke's parrakeets and a whole mess of finches. The temperature in NYC is going up to 96 today, and I am worried about them. Almost all are tropical birds, but still.

I'm making sure they have fresh bath water, and I'm spraying the parrots from time to time.

Squirrels are those things with the fur coats all the way to the tip of their tails, right? I think it's safe to assume they are smart enough to realize they would do better inside an air-conditioned place on a hot day. Evolution left them well-insulated, but with the metabolic rate of a small mammal on the inside it really works better for keeping the heat in, not out.

Sadly, no squirrels here. :( The "kids" miss watching them. We have to be careful not to say the "s" word in front of them, or they will go nuts trying to figure out where the squirrel is. It's so funny. But sad at the same time. Poor bored kitties.

I have a big fat green parrot , I don't know what species he is ... I found him ... flying with cage and all one day a long time ago.:D

But, anyways the temp. down here gets up into the 100s and he does fine outside , as long as we have plenty of cool water in his bowl and he is under the shade he is good to go ... he also likes when I spray him down ... he opens up his wings and gets all excited.

But, over all nothing changes with him ... cold weather , summer weather he still is screaming and taunting the cats. He will " meow meow " all day long with them. :)

My cats love to watch the birds outside, but I think they know how unpleasant it would be to actually catch one and eat it. They are perfectly happy with their Friskies and understand that playing around with wild birds is just a fantasy.

Much like my attitude towards other women!

What are his markings, Aphro? Sounds like some sort of Amazon if he (or she) is big, fat and green. Amazons are greedy SOBs.

I don't know if the squirrels in my yard like AC or not, but they sure love the bird feeders! They clean them out daily.

Well, I have apicture of him but I need to scan it.

But, anyways he is a big bird the majority of his body is green & his head is yellow and he has little specks of red in there .. and underneath his wings he has beautiful colors , like red , blue, green , yellow... he is a pretty bird. :)

He is very greedy , when it comes to food. He will eat any thing & every thing. He loves to eat , he loves egg.

Did you know they now sell electified bird feeders to teach the squirrels not to climb them? My son found one in a yard here in the neighborhood and reports he won't be touching it again. ~LOL~

You most likely have a "double-yellow head" Amazon, so called because of the large amount of yellow on its head (opposed to the yellow-nape or yellow-fronted). Is it like the one on the left?

LMAO!! And most of them think with the wrong one!:D

Ain't THAT The truth... LMAO

But that is part of why us girls love ya all!

:D  :rose:

One of our head likes air conditioning, but the other one likes it hot and humid!

OK, so I walked into that obvious little oooooops.... that still doesn't answer the whole double headed parrot issue effectively.
