do people sabatoge others stories?

Hi,
A dumb question, as I don't think this has happened to any of my other stories, but my contest story A Lesbian LOve Story...of sorts drop 3 % points on two votes and that could only happen if it got 2 one votes in a row...when the story has 300 plus votes...

Now I am not all high and mighty to think my story is perfect...but I can't fathom getting one votes for this story...maybe some of my other stories...but this has been constantly liked...

Now I don't care if I win (I know there are higher ranked stories than mine and good for them), I can't even fathom telling my husband where the money came from...I just want the best real score I can...

Personally, I just want the most reads as possible, votes and comments and hopefully votes that are real..

Anyhow, I am babbling. Has anyone seen this happening or am I just reading into it ?

Many of the AH writers have pointed out that mean-spirited trolls will do this to them. I wouldn't worry about it.

It happens. The good news is that the sweeps usually remove those obvious 1s -- especially in contests.

Of course, contest sweeps are far more likely to nuke 5 votes than normal sweeps as well, so you have to take the good with the bad.

The website runs a script that removes questionable votes. Some appear to be maintainence based -- running every so often. Others are specific to things like themed contests and the monthly contests.

The only known criteria for the sweeps are multiple votes from the same IP/ID, although it has been confirmed that oddball votes outside the norm for the story are also removed ( typically 1 votes, as 5s are common across the board )

Most often, your score will go up any time a vote is removed. If you have an overenthusiastic fan who multi-votes, you may see the score drop, though.

The sweeps are imperfect, but when you have a system that allows completely anonymous voting in an internet poll, it's about the best you can do.

I wouldn't worry about it. I got 1-bombed the last time I submitted a Valentine's contest story, because the text style changed dramatically between 2 paragraphs (I know because I got a comment with criticism about this at the same time) The formatting had nothing to do with me - it was some problem with the website.

1-bombs happen to everyone from time-to-time, especially during contests. As the other posters have said, they often get swept away.

By the way, 300 votes? That is a sweet count for a new story! Congratulations! Sounds like I should write more lesbian stories!

Good to hear..cause all my stories are suddenly dropping like flies...when they were stable for a long time...

My stories are not good enough for the 4.70 plus...but i had lots at 4.50-4.65 and now they are dropping like crazy...and I am waytoo lazy to try and fix my own votes...

I don't expect to win..i just like lots of people reading my stories..i am vain like that...

Yeah, I expect that your scores will climb right back up to their old neighborhoods after a round or two of sweeps.

In a nutshell author or not people are people. So just like in real life there are all types of personalities here including some petty jealous juvenile types who hate to see anyone do better than them. Instead of saying "Damn that story is better than mine I should try to do better or take something with me from this story that will make me a better writer it's "Oh yeah? have a one bomb!" so just like in real life just ignore them and take it for what it's worth. At the end of the day i feel bad for trolls they were obviously the kids that got their milk money taken from them and had a permanent wedgie all through high school.

As I'm now finding out, it's almost derigeur to be trolled and 1 bombed. I believe it's a sign of flattery that you're doing so well. Kinda like a slap on the ass, except it's in the face, lol.
