Do I need to send the full story?

I wrote two versions of the same scene and I need an opinion on which I should use. I'd like to send it to an editor for their opinion but the "Finding an Editor" rules confuse me a little. Could I just send the two versions of the scene or do I need to send the full story?

If the scene is fairly short you can post it here for opinions. If it's more than a few paragraphs, you will need to ask privatly.

If you want opinions on which is better, you need to send both scenes.

Personally I would send the whole story so whoever is looking at it can see which fits the story better.

Turn on Private Messages.

* To switch on your Private Messages, go to User CP (top left of this page), click on Edit Options (in the left hand column), and then tick Enable Private Messaging in the second box down. Make sure that the box titled Receive Private Messages only from Buddies and Moderators is NOT ticked. Finally, click Save Changes at the bottom of that page.

As a volunteer editor, it would be near impossible to choose the better paragraph without some background. I'd reach out to an editor, explain the basic premise of the story and the category you want to post in and say you are looking for opinions on a section of the tale.

EG- Hi, I'm X, Thank you for being a volunteer editor on Lit. I've recently written an incest story involving a mother and son. I have two alternate paragraphs I can't seem to decide between and was hoping you might be able to read over it and let me know what you think. Regards, X

The number of times I receive an email or message saying 'I've approached dozens of editors and no one gets back to me, but can you read my stuff?' and you have to reply asking for more details! I do reply, but I know lots of editors won't!

Good luck with it :)
