DO AS DICK GEPHARDT SAYS...NOT AS HE DOES
Dick Gephardt, the class-warfare specialist, was set to appear at a photo-op to attack George W. Bush's energy policy, get a few shots in at the energy industry, and nag Americans about their own energy consumption. And he set a fine example by showing up at the photo-op in a massive Chevrolet Suburban--which gets about 14 miles to the gallon on city roads.
One reporter asked Gephardt's spokesman, Eric Smith, why he had to ride around in such a gas-guzzler, Smith said, "We don't say anything about changing people's lifestyles."
Sure you don't. Isn't it the leftist environmentalists who get their panties in a wad when they see people driving sport-utility vehicles and building luxury homes and throwing out plastic bottles? Aren't they the ones who keep insisting that the only way to save this planet is for us to end our wasteful, selfish consumerism? To me, that seems like Dick Gephardt and his friends are all about changing people's lifestyles.
Everyone else's lifestyles, that is, except for his own. Remember, Gephardt is one of the elite Democrats. Just like Dianne Feinstein and her anti-gun crowd, who want to confiscate everyone else's privately owned guns...yet still carry their own and have armed bodyguards.
Democrats want to make the rules...but they don't necessarily want to follow those rules.
