Working title.

First off I have 39 DnD books next to me, so don't worry about abstract classes or unusual spells, classes, or feats. But I will discus that and plot later. First off I need to state my basic goal. (3rd edition and 3.5).

There are two books the fourth and fifth books I purchased have gone virtually unused or sense I've gotten them. They are a bit odd but at the same time can be used with what ever characters you come up with. These two books are the Epic Players Handbook and Deities and Demigods. Players will start off as neither epic or demigod but hope to advance in that direction.

Players will need characters between levels 15 and 20, up to discussion.

As a basic rule of thumb you can use any class in wizards free character sheet list. The exception being those in the tomb of magic, which I do not own. Prestiege classes and any class not listed pm me the details and will talk about it.

The characersheets are a free pdf from wizards of the coast at the above link.

Once more at this point I am mainly seeing who may be interesed.

Oh minor note, I own no books on campign settings so please stick to core religions or expect little imput on part of your god.

Over my next two posts I will give basic plot and take opinions on a name for theparent organization. While discusing the organization.

First let me discus the world. There are many small countries and kingdoms and war is common. The battle fields across the continent give rise to many hero's but snuff the life out of four times the number of adventurers. The world hasn't known total peace in 15 generations, a long time even by the standards of elves and dwarves.

One would assume the abundance of armed men on the main continent would greatly reduce the populations of monsters and the like, but the opposite is true. The death of fool hardy men is happening much to rapidly and as a result many monsters, and undead in particular started to pose a growing problem. But this is only a problem among the nations on the main continent of Volaria. To the east and north the countries had peace, and enterprising men saw opportunities causing an influx of mercenaries and magic merchants.

One group from the east in particular saw an opportunity, while most merchants and mercenaries saw th opportunity to fight in small battles for rewards switching sides frequently, 2 groups saw the opportunity to fight monsters for the rewards. To the north a tower was built and to the east a town settled. At first the two groups profited but then they started to overlap for jobs at the center of there two areas, at the same time other groups got the same idea. This is hen the eastern town made its move. Instead of starting yet another war or giving up a share of profits the leader of the eastern town traveled to the northern tower, they struck a bargain and joined together to keep down the new organizations. Two the south east, a small college and village was founded at equal distance from both the eastern town and the northern tower, forming an equilateral triangle. The three locations shared employees and contracts and spread across the continent of Volaria keeping out rising enterprises in the same monster slaying profession.

No one person in Volaria has the backing of a nation sufficient enough to put an end to all of the wars and at any ones guess this period of frequent blood shed could continue for another 15 generations sense the largest "empire" only holds a few cities. Truth is the only group that may end it is the organization which has profited just fine over the last ten generations of war.

To the north is a much Colder continent of Shiva, there most countries have long sense outlawed arcane magic. As a result many mercenaries that begin in the tower are void of that power, and instead psionics, incarum (Incarnate, Totemist, and soulborn), and martial adepts (Crusaders, sword sage, and warblades) are common. (Invocations are considered arcane. Warlocks and Dragon Fire Adepts are rare.) The leader of the tower Susan started as a young Monk and then founded her own school of non magic combat calling it the blades of the shadow mind. They use a mix of psionics and martial maneuvers combined with stealth. She is still quite young by half elf standards.

To the east is a nation much like china and japan, yes I am not creative get over it. (At least it will be easy to remember.) The Jade continent is a place of rigorous caste structure, and the town is very similar. Here Samurai, Sohei, Wu Jen, Shugenja, shaman, spirit shaman and specialized monk classes enter the lands of Volaria. A small martial adept college has also appeared in the town recently so some sword sages, warblades, and crusaders are trained here. Those in the lower castes of shaman and wu jen frequently leave the town for the other two locations sense its easier to advance. The ruler here is Twen a born sorcerer picked up the spell casting ways of the Wu Jen while a student here and has since become an Ultimate Magus combining both prepared and spontaneous spell casting into a single art form. By unlocking his dragon blood he has managed to stay alive longer then a normal human.

The college is were most traditional DnD classes start. A large island to the west is ruled by the savage races of orcs, trolls, and lizard folk although there are small villages of humans and other civil races they are a minority. As a result nature classes and races are more common in the college. How ever ALL PCS WILL BE CONNECTED TO HERE regardless of class. They likely were asked to transfer here. The last two rulers of the college had part in training the current rulers of the tower and town. This is a gathering place of the best and brightest in the organization. Its currently ruled by no one and as far as any one remembers its been that way for at least 40 years. But if any one concentrates and really thinks about it they could swear there was a head master or ruler there yesterday...

Yes four posts in one day all in a row. I probably shouldn't but let me recap.

The college was i fact ruled up until yesterday, but the ruler seems to of disappeared and been forgotten by every one in the world... or has he. Those tied to him simply can't make since of there lives with out remembering the head master of the college. They know some one was there but isn't any more beyond that they can't remember. Hence the title Disciples of the Forgotten. The idea is to find the head master and why s/he was forgotten.

PCs should be tied to the college or the head master in some way, having done something with him / her.

Blades of the Shadow Mind is a prestige class I made up. If you wish to do the same just pm me a draft, same if you wish to make a race. If you are possibly interested in my class I can send you the ten level break down.

Finally I can't think of a good name for the organization and will be taking suggestions. At the same time I will also be accepting names for the three branches of the organization. (The eastern town, north tower, and southwest college just don't sound right.)

Just because I am curious I will ask. Do you plan to take vow of proverty to achieve sainthood since soulmelds and magic items can not occupy the same body slot with out a feat.

No, I will not be taking the vow of poverty. My exalted feats are: Nimbus of Light, Sanctify Martial Strike (bastard sword), and Exalted Spell Resistance.

Interesting. I always wanted to make an incarnate saint ith vow of poverty, so I was wondering if you were.

As a saint expect to live up the goodness, I am well aware of how rediculously powerful it is. However do to the organizations non alignment based recruiting I am going to ignore the can't associate with evil caracters rule... or was that paladins. I'll look it up later.

Well you have dibs, what do you want the orginization tobe called?

She likes her sword and other possessions. Never thought about incarnate/ vow of poverty before.

Paladins can't associate with evil, it says nothing about saints. I think it would be ok if they are trying to reform an evil character, who is realistically redeemable.

Isn't the organization called the Disciples of the Forgotten?

No but the head master of the college seems to be forgoten by very one hence the title name.

In event no one else joins would you b against making a second character and I will make 2 others and then we can do a 1 on 1 version of this till one of use gets sick of it.

I end up running 2+ chars in most campaigns anyway:D

Problem is I have yet to have been in a campaign that hasn't died before getting 10% through:mad::mad::mad:

I'll try and think up a name for the college.

I am hoping to get lucky. Last time it was only me and one other person a third person joined at the end of the first story arc and the thread lasted for a very very long time. Was one of my favorites.

Well let me throw a couple of ideas out and you can tell me which ones sound like fun for the party.

How do these sound?

Town: Orinthal
Tower: Senega Spire
College: Ironthal Academy

First I have that prestiege class I made earlier. Its a combined martail adept and psion with a rouge base. Its basicly weak and strong like any other combined class.

Monk saint, to show you the most broken AC in the game if not the most broken character all around.

Bear warrior / warshaper probably a barbarian base. (Maybe a changling) Basicly a raging shape shifter.

Fochlucan Lyrist with sublime chord. The Lyrist is a druid bard rouge mix, with the addition of the chord it can get 2 ninth level wizard spells.

Ardent This is basicly a psion except all powers are based on mantles which are like domains that clerics get.

Factotum possibly with chemelon. This is a jack of all trades class set up. Some healing very few spells lots of skills and problem solving tools.

Umbral disciple Monk class from magic of incarum, I've been wanting to try and have a few ideas.

Fighter Oh yes I am going there, players hand book 2 has some strong ideas.

Scout Dervish, a class that gets extra damage to attacks when moving and a class that gets extra attacks while moving.

Those sound fine how about the orgination as a whole? I am thinking the guild of three layers.

What's with the list of class combinations?

As for the structure of the organization, that's something you alone should decide.

Seeing who you would prefer to have in a party basicly so I know what to make.

Also I said this earlier.

Well let me throw a couple of ideas out and you can tell me which ones sound like fun for the party.

figure I best live up to the promise

Well first off, I am tweaking the cleric class a little to make it more like Eilistraee's clerics. I'm removing the armor proficiencies, replacing them with the monks Wis and Unarmored AC, since her clerics rarely wear armor. And adding Perform (song, dance, horn, flute, harp) and Survival to class skills, since they are listed as important skills to Eilistraee.
And then with the Incarnate levels, she forgoes gaining armor proficiencies, and instead stacks them with her cleric levels for the Unarmored AC bonus.
As far as combat goes, she is more melee orientated.

As for my second character, if needed, I'm thinking of grabbing my char from Tymless's thread and leveling her up. I hate my fun ideas going to waste from a dead/dying campaign!

You do know, all this talk about assuming its probably just going to be you and me is probably scaring candidates off?

Unfortunetly. I mentioned it to tymless and she said if she gets a chance. I also ran it by Ravenloft, but the life of a father is the life of a father and he is frequently busy. Lastly I mentioned it to ren, and I am not sure he'll be interested with the other threads he has up and running at the moment. I would hit up a few others but I am resonabely sure Razor, Hy, Arc, Pooh, Shoto, and most others I am comfortable asking don't play DnD. Lastly my girl friend, Tumble, is busy with finals but she may design the forgotten master if she gets a chance.

That being said I have mixed feelings about swaping the armor for monk AC. Lets face it wisdom is the main stat for a cleric and the incarnate. A monks belt only costs 13k and at level 19 you have 580k. Alternately you can bump your character up to level 20 and take one level as a monk.

For the party tank would you prefer a monk saint or the bear warrior? Or do you prefer the ranger your making hold that spot.

Hmmm, D&D.

Now, if I choose to throw in a Template, will the level adjustment or the HD affect the levels?

I usually play up from level one, not start at higher levels.
