Hi guys. So im new in this theme and i dont know a lot about it since was my recent girlfriend show me this world.
Even if we didn't had any real BDSM experience since is a distance, i was having the idea of making for X-Mas is getting near, i had the idea to make a Collar/Choker for her.

The problem is i dont dunno what produts to use, what is the best one even for the skin to not get irritated skin or even tickles since she just hate it.

Any suggestions are welcome, thanks. :)

The problem with a collar is it means something very different to people "in the scene". It's like a wedding band to the sub.

It's kinda weird if you're not in the scene.

How about make a pair of cuffs instead?

Yes i'm aware of it. But this was something she already talked about and kinda wish for it, but is more about the sense of being choked that the bound in us. At least for now :)

I would get a custom dog collar. You can actually attach a leash and pull without it falling apart and you can get them in a decent quality that is water- and odor-resistant. You can have it personalized or make the personalization yourself for the DIY aspect.

I bought my girls collars. Two were hand made. Her favorite was bought from Ring of Steel. And the other was made by a friend in the lifestyle. Find one that works for you both of you. Allo take a into account if she will be wearing it in public.

It doesn't matter if someone is in the scene. The collar means whatever they want it to mean and if she just wants to wear one to get her jollies she can. Not everyone takes a collar so seriously.

Vanille94, this is a really simple tutorial to follow. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2lp9m1BF8HY
It's basically macrame meets bondage, you can make it in any color you like and any size you need. :) You can probably play around with the materials too. Paracord works well.

People wear rings without being married or engaged too. It doesn't have to be such a serious symbol if they don't want it to.

What about using a satin ribbon, and attaching that to clasps?

I'm with MeekMe and SpunThings on this one. The collar itself is just materials, whereas the intent and meaning behind it are what makes it something more. Whether or not it is a symbol of something special, frankly, is up to the individual.

As for making/customizing one, you are probably better off purchasing an existing one or going the dog collar route if you are talking about leather. But, keep in mind, leather is a stiff material that has been chemically treated. One which can both chafe if not properly sized, or cause skin irritation due to it absorbing sweat while being worn. While feaux leather/pleather's quality varies greatly. Commonly, if not insulated, it will absorb sweat, ending up with an odor, and is famous for staining skin if worn for long periods of time. You can counteract this by lining the inside with a soft material like lamb skin. But again, you're probably better off purchasing a custom one if you don't know what you're doing.

I suggest dog's collar too from the pet shops. They come in all sorts of widths colors and materials. Just pick a soft leather one and have it downsized to your liking (Make sure it can be worn both loosely and tightly around the neck.
You don't need to specify it's for a girl and not a dog!

The benefits are that it will be secure, will not fall apart, will look neat because it's professionally made. It will have a ring to attach leash to.

If you want it to be more like a symbolic collar that she can wear in public, then yes, soft (black) ribbon could be worn around the neck without anyone giving it a second glance. Only you and her will know what it means, if you choose it correctly. It will be a good accessory too that goes with most clothes.

You can make your own collar at The Collar Factory, online, easy to find. I have used them and they are excellent. You go through a series of choices - material, colour, accessories, size, lining, etc etc and then they make it for you. So you get to choose everything, and then the pros put it together. Bonus, you can add matching cuffs later, something that is much harder to do with a dog collar. Good luck and enjoy! :)

For many that collar a partner, it is an extremely significant thing to do. I recommend doing it up right and this man here is the best at leather craft... and that includes things other than collars..

Best collar

When they pull your hair and breath "what's my name?" against your neck.

Tandy Leather, has a Kit, and a book on leatherworking, personally I learned it through Boy Scouts, but YouTube and Twitch Creative, can let you see how it is done.

Thanks CnC :)

I gotta know, how does this help with long distance?

You are right, it doesn't. :)
Maybe one might realize that a collar is mainly symbolic since in a distance relationship one cannot use it as a bdsm device.

Nah, OP specifically said his s-type wants to feel something around her neck. In this case symbolic means nothing. It's actually used MORE as a BDSM device in this case.

My collar is metal. I wanted something that wouldn't break or couldn't be removed without the key. I ordered it from Etsy, lock included. I love it. It's more comfortable than it looks and has a wonderful weight. You can see it in my profile.
