Looking for story: Divorced man, hiding away in mountains

I'm looking for a story I read a year or so ago, it was about a man who was divorced by his wife, and he went to live/work alone in a mountain cabin. He met some girl that was on the run from someone, and later his ex-wife, sister-in-law and kids show up having to hide away from some bad guy. I believe toward the end, he and his friends trick the bad guys and kill them all.

Does anyone recall this story or author? I seem to remember it was a longer story, possibly multi-part?

Wow, after all this time I found it. And, strangely enough, on a different site. It's "Of loss and Remembrance" by QM.

I had some of the characters messed up - ex wife, kids and his ex-wifes lesbian lover were the characters.
