So, I looked on my county's website, but I didn't see an answer to my question.
I need a new copy of my divorce decree. I lost mine and my ex is trying to fuck me over on a few things. Do I call the lawyer's office that took care of it or some office in the courthouse? Their website it completely not helping me at all. Thanks in advance.

Is there something on the website about getting copies of records or vital statistics? You can put in your area info here to find the office: http://www.vitalrec.com/index.html (BTW, I just googled 'copy of divorce decree' and clicked on the first link, but there's a ton of info on getting copies if you do the same.) Alternately, google 'yourcounty records vital statistics' and see if the office's website has instructions, or you can at least get a phone number to see what you need to do. In my county, one has to go to the office or send in a form, there's a fee and that fee has to be paid certain ways, so you will want to see what your county's specific requirements are.

I'm sure you could call your lawyer, but they'll probably charge you for the call(s), copies, postage, etc., and that'll likely be far more expensive than getting it through the county office.

Go to the County Clerk's Office in the county in which the decree is filed and request a copy. You'll need to bring ID with you, and the fee they will charge you for the copy. If the Clerk has a procedure that differs from this, they should inform you at that time.

As a rule, any divorce records are available only to the parties, and the attorneys involved, and are not considered public record.
