disgraced royal andrew settles out of court to the tune of @$10m

Good statement from Jess Phillips, a labour member of parliament, regarding the offer of support to victims of sex crimes.

“The behaviour that has been displayed throughout the last four years does not speak to somebody who could be an ally to victims of sexual violence.”
Phillips also said it was not the responsibility of campaigners and charities working to end violence against women “to offer any redemption”.

Many in the sector suggested charities would prefer not to have a public association with the prince and questioned whether it was appropriate for him to offer.

Jayne Butler, the chief executive of Rape Crisis England & Wales, said offers to support victims and survivors of abuse “do feel cynical when Prince Andrew’s legal team demonstrated so much disrespect for Ms Giuffre and a complete disregard for how their victim-blaming actions would affect other victims and survivors”.

“We would suggest that Prince Andrew instead considers looking into supporting prevention work aimed at perpetrators, rather than suggesting he is in any way placed to support victims,” she added.

I think Andrew would have had his military titles removed, but it was not given by the Queen so they remain... yea, Vice is spot on

Ok, alright everybody move along now. Nothing to see. Move along.

Those military ranks he was stripped of -- I presume they were all ceremonial, so there's no disruption of military operations?

Thick as a plank.

Andrew's misfortune is that in a family of dopes, Andrew is so profoundly stupid the other members of the family realize it.

You guys do realize his payments is not an admission of guilt. The British royal family has a history of paying people off to just move on from things and get them out of the press quickly. 🤦🏾

Whether or not the royal family chooses to pretend it's not an admission of guilty, the rest of us in the world know it's an acceptance of a public judgment of guilt. And the British royal family isn't anything if not fully public. If the queen has footed the bill on that, she ends her long reign besmirched.

besmirched by her anus horribilis. Troubling imagery

The Queen wears Depends. The only reason she hasn't died is because she knows what a fuckup Charles is too. What a legacy to leave.

'Oh the Grand Old Duke of York
He had 12 million quid
He gave it to a girl he didn't know
For something he never did'
:D

Legally it is not an admission of guilt.

Let's go with Donald Trump's definition. :D

Other than that, so fucking what? Be dense if you want to be.

That is how a lot of rich people and organizations avoid trial and guilty verdicts. It has been done since forever.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Rape cases, misconduct, assaults', you name it and people make settlements then sign NDAs. You have to live in a hole to not know this.

You have to want to just distract if you think anyone applies that to the fallout of Andrew's case. He's screwed. If it comes out the queen covered the settlement, she's screwed too.

It doesn't matter shit what's legal or not. This is now.

Yeah.. sorry but your argument makes zero sense. I doubt the Queen payed anything as she cut him off from all his titles, stipends and everything else he would have received as a royal. He would have had to use his own funds. I also don't think the Queen would have foot the bill just for the reason of it coming back on her. She has been doing this for about 80 years. I give the old dame SOME credit.

In that case you would be wrong. Charles is a very wealthy man courtesy of his income from the Duchy of Cornwall. Anne, Andrew, and Edward are not particularly wealthy and have always received a stipend from the Queen. Andrew in particular, has always overspent, relying on his ma to bail him out, whereas the other two have not.

King Charles tells andrew there's no returning to public duties for him. Apparently, this has left andrew quite devastated, since he had often approached his mother to reinstate him. She didn't, and K.C has made it abundantly clear it's not happening. Shades of Elizabeth II and the abdicated King Edward... she mulled it over but then received indisputable evidence against him regarding his close ties with, and sympathy for, the nazi cause to the detriment of the British people. She called him for a meeting, he was all gung-ho believing he was about to have an ambassadorship confirmed, and she tore his aspirations apart.

Despite his close friendships with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell, the Duke of York believes he could ‘still be of value’ as a working member of the Royal Family.
‘Andrew was extremely close to the Queen and tried to raise the issue of his return to public life many times with her,’ they added. ‘On some occasions she would say mildly conciliatory things but most of the time she would change the subject immediately to avoid talking about it.
