Disgaea and other Nippon Ichi games. Interest probe.

Phantom Brave, Disgaea, Makai Kingdom. Most people know these games and know the humor, over the top characters and bi-polar breast sizes.

I'm curious as to if anyone would be interested in a story taking place in one of, or a combination of, these games and their settings. Demons, angels and humans but with a far less biblical tone! I'm thinking there could be Overlords of varying powers, minions, shop keeper folks, wanderers who adventure solo and the like.

There would be an over lying story arch, the war between Heaven and the Netherworlds, and of course maybe one or two other people could help me by putting up 'quests' for folks to do solo or in groups.

Most people would be Demons, but there could of course be a fair number of humans and angels as well. The stories would most often take place in varying types of Netherworlds. With some reaching other planes of existence as well. We could see about giving a few people the rights to play the more important characters from the games as well.

Also Prinnies.

If this carried on here it wouldn't focus so much on the erotic end of the spectrum.

Keh heh heh heh heh... Can I play Etna? Actually, for that matter are we simply going with the NIS standard fantasy world or are we playing main characters from the games? I'm pro either and both! Also are we sticking with established domains of Disgaea or incorporating other NIS concepts like the world of Soul Nomad and the World Eaters?

OOH! What about the alchemical titles (i.e. Mana Khemia and Atalier Iris)?

Anyways in case you couldn't tell I'm really excited about this idea; I'm a big fan of NIS games and have probably wasted years of my life playing and replaying them. I'd love to RP in a NIS world whatever the setting.

Well, I've got this RP going on 3 other boards. Usually it's OCs, but as I end up playing all the big named characters, it tends to be unfair if I don't let others.

So it would go either way. Would you like to see the other boards I'm working on? As it seems you and I are the only two that have interest in this here.

Alternately we could always MPD it... You know, play multiple characters as if we had multiple personality disorder, fight & argue with ourselves and eachother 'cause we're each playing 2 or more different characters...

I've been ranting and raving about the idea to my lifemate and might be able to convince him to start up a character in a NIS RP too (he'd be posting from my log-in I presume 'cause he's not the type to get memberships on websites). Him and I used to war over the contoller for Disgaea & Disgaea 2. He & I kinda think that the Disgaea set-up is the most workable on grounds of infinite alternate netherworlds, defined perameters of Celestia, the Human World, the Land of Courage and tons and tons of Netherworlds. There wouldn't need to be any irritating single "power" character either, since there are always extra overlords taking a tour of the other netherworlds.

Just a side-note, but it always seemed to me that the angels of Celestia are more evil than the demons, except of course for Flonne who is brain damageddamageddamaged. I mean they're the only ones who apply their judgements and preconceptions to other realms.

Anyways I digress, but perhaps we should just post the set-up under "looking for players" and see what happens. As for me checking out other threads sure! Although I gotta admit I was mostly just browsing until I caught sight of the reference to NIS games.

Yeah, I always went sorta the same way with the Angels. Sort of like an upper class group that treats the middle class (humans) like sheep and the lower class (Demons) like rats that need to be exterminated. They can do no wrong because of their status.

Ah, sorry, I don't messager. I got turned off to the whole thing when I was working at the ILRC (a centre for people with disabilities which includes community access internet) and kept seeing things like people sitting across the room from eachother or even closer chatting with eachother on msn messager instead of talking face to face. I've noticed a verifiable statistic with regards to social networking sites: as your number of "friends" online increases, your number of friends in real life decreases in direct proportion due to them feeling all ignored and stuff.
Call me an old-fashioned girl, but I prefer to be able to see, hear and smell the person I'm carrying on a conversation with. It makes me uncomfortable not to be able to read someone's bodylanguage and assense their pheremone levels and listen to the intonation of their voice. Guess I'm a throwback from the stone-age in that respect. I don't mind forums because it feels like corresponding by mail and I love text based RP, but I just don't like chatting.

Mia apologia in that respect.

Yeah! Seemed pretty neat to me, something devouring the various netherworlds, overlords and vassals and all that fun stuff. It has a hell of a lot of possibilities and also the threat of impending doom to motivate players!

Incidentally I absolutely loved the graphics.

Weight: oh about 98lbs soaking wet.
Physical Description: Ryvonne is dainty and delicate looking and garbed like a harlequin marrionette from fashion hell. She has wings like a dragonfly poking out from the back of her multicoloured tunic and wears a screaming tangerine miniskirt. She has sky-blue platform boots with a platform about 9 inches thick with bright red laces on them. Her skin is parchment white and she has little fanged teeth that are frequently exposed by her near constant grin. She barely looks strong enough to hold her weapon.
Birthplace: Originally emerged from a shattered mirror in Pram's netherworld.
Class: Beastmaster.
Faction: un-aligned as of yet. Independant.
Preferred Weapon Types: Big, oversized axes and hammers.
Motto: Smashy-smashy!

ummm... so yeah, that's what I've got so far as far as a character concept goes. As for waiting days between posts, well, I will make it a point to check this page regularly at 7pm my time so at least it won't be a long wait.

His skin is a deep tan in dark contrast to his pale hair and eyes. Hundreds of scars number along his shoulders and arms, as well as the bridge of his nose, cheeks and neck. (Although most are too small to see without closer inspection due to the wonderful work of Netherworld medics.) His hair is of medium length and very messy, with spikes jutting out in all directions. His physique is athletic and very toned. His abdomen looks very fit and heavily muscled without being too heavy, as are his arms. The muscles are thin and tightly knit as opposed to bulging and massive. The most obvious feature that makes him stand out as a demon are the short, pointed ears that stick out from the silver hair that sits atop his head.

His gear is that of the standard Warrior unit. Leather gauntlets, a forehead protector, heavy boots and pants. He also wears a sleeveless shirt, unlike most of the Warrior Class. He carries his first sword with him at all times, although it is dull and chipped from a long period of use and battle wear. The sword is nothing special, simply a battered broadsword with nicks all along the blade and a fairly dulled edge. His garb is mostly black, save for the boots, gloves and headband which are an uninspired dark brown.

Personality:A very self assured and brave Warrior, much of his ego is completely unwarranted. He will often take on jobs and 'missions' that require the man power of several people on his own, get thrashed, and try again over and over until either he gives up, something prevents him from completing his task, someone else does it first or he gets hit on the head so hard he doesn't remember what the job was.

He's very independent and rarely goes out of his way to work with others. Should someone request his help, though, he is often more agreeable, preferring not to be 'weak' (even when it's obvious he could use the help.) He's your stereotypical Warrior type, not thinking things out too much and often bludgeoning things until they work out the way he wants them to. He's rarely reserved and wears his opinions and emotions on his sleeve in almost all situations.

He has a great fear of Succubus, worrying that they'll suck out his soul, or turn him into a drooling, useless man slave. He also greatly despises Overlords, feeling that the way they use souls and lesser demons like fodder is inexcusable. He feels that lesser demons that succumb to a life of servitude are nearly as bad as Overlords, and wishes to one day free the enslaved demons across all Netherworlds.

As well as kill Zetta.

History: His spirit was one of the first used by Zetta to create his 'Battle Monkeys' in his war to reclaim his Netherworld after being sealed into the pages of the Sacred Tome. After the first assault, he was slain by a pair of low level minions due to Zetta's lack of skill as a commander and the fact the Overlord just didn't care.

After being dragged off to the Nether-hospital, and healed, he was expected to go back out to die again for this book-lord, but instead, he snuck off the first chance he could get, leaving the rest of his former allies to go along their adventures in the Makai Kingdom. Armed with nothing but starting equipment and a dull sword, he dragged himself through the backwash of Zetta's Netherworld's, trying to survive.

As he did, all he could do was watch as Zetta and the rest of his minions rose in power and strength to eventually restore Zetta to his body and throne. All of his soldiers having become increasingly powerful during the ordeal. But not Maje. Filled with resentment towards the Overlord both for his uncaring nature and the fact that he succeed so easily where Maje could only struggle, the Warrior then and there swore he would become strong enough to one day face Zetta and take out all his rage upon his former sire.

Should I throw up an IC thread for us to get started in?

Point of fact, he's the only person who was in Velvet's (SRP) last night who got my IC (as a dead girl) statement "I too am searching for true love. Has anybody seen a zombie with Herculese's Body, Mahogany's Brain and a Horse's Weiner who scares even the great Laharl?"

He actually responded with WATCH OUT! AN INVISIBLE LAZER!

I think this kind of RP is right up his alleyway too!
