Discrete Collars

Hi,

This is my first time posting on here, so please forgive any misuse of terms as I am kind of new to this lifestyle, but my SO/pyl is into it, and it is something which has a certain appeal to me.

My question is simple, but after searching in both the library, ebay, and using google I am having problems finding a discrete collar for my SO. I want something that is obvious to those in the community as to what it is, but yet discrete enough that unless someone knows what it is, they won't think twice.

If anyone can direct me to where I want to be looking, that would be a big help. Thanx .. =)

Depends a bit on what you are looking for as in style, something pretty and decorative, or something a bit more basic and purely serviceable minded. I wear a black leather collar which though I love it is not designed to be a fashion statement or decorative.....so far it has worked well as those in the lifestyle usually know what it is if they know we are also into D/s, and the vanillas think it is just my choice of accessory. It is to be noted though that since collars have been adopted as fashion accessories by the mainstream community, it is less likely anyone is going to question it on the grounds of what it is and even lifestyle people are not going to be sure whether it is an accessory or symbolic collar unless your behaviour demonstrates otherwise. Good luck in your search. There have been a few threads here with links to various places people have bought theirs from so if I find them I will post the link back here for you.

As you are aware collars can vary from something one might out right purchase for dogs right through to lovely personal expressions adapted by couples which take on many different forms. It really comes down to personal taste. If you desire others in the community to recognise outright then perhaps you might not only consider the set neck pieces but a chain worn closer to the neck with the triskelion symbol charm . A locket with a heart shaped keyhole I have seen tastefully employed as well. Gold, silver leather the choices become varied. Having said that anything worn sincerely will become a collar in the mind, heart and souls of those that really count you and your one. Best of Luck ............smiles

PS Try Google 'BDSM Jewellry' . Remember the old adage Buyer Beware some of it looks 'eeeeekkk'. A resonable jeweller might be a better direction if quality of craftsmanship is a prerequisite. Some jewellers with a BDSM interest will also take commsions for exquisite pieces as well.

Sinnocent has a simple silver band - like a choker. She got it at some 'normal' store, like JC Penneys, I think. I'm going to get something like that as soon as we get the money.

A collar is whatever you want it to be. I know of someone who got her boy a watch and had the back of it engraved with something like "property of (her name)" Someone here on lit has an italian charm bracelet, and for Holly, I wear a simple gold chain with 3 gold hearts on it (one is pink gold, one is white gold, one is yellow gold) - nothing says "BDSM" about any of those, but they are definitely collars. Beyond that, when I was searching for ideas for the corporal for when/if we officially collar him, I got a lot of suggestions: a heavy keychain for him to carry - invisible to most, but the weight of it would remind him that he is owned, a worry stone - same premise as the keychain, an engraved watch, a simple ring that is engraved on the inside, one suggestion on that thread that I liked but can't use is to buy a cat collar and put it around the sub's ankle - easily covered, but the sub knows that it's there.

I do have one link though, this is a nice, simple chain that locks - small enough to be hidden under most shirts, and simple enough to not draw too much attention even when not covered.

Pita,

Those collars on TieMeUp are teh ideas I was having .. thanks .. =)

Your welcome. I searched everywhere I could find when looking at collars. I wanted something pretty that didn't look like it came from Petsmart. Not that there is anything wrong with that.:D

Would be quite hot wearing something like that through out the day at work.

That's basically my theory on why I want something discrete ...

My pyl lives in a very conservative area ... and to wear something too far from the mainstream mentality would be actually hard in their professional enviornment. With something more discrete it's something that we knowwhat it is, but her family and colleagues would not know unless they are in the community.

I just have a question tho .. I found out what the main symbol is, but what is the significance of the treskellian <sp?> rose?

I am fairly certain the Triskelion rose is a commercial hybrid of the symbol. I would be happy to be informed I am incorrect however as its rather charming.

"The three divisions represent the various threesomes of BDSM. First of all, the three divisions of BDSM itself: B&D, D&S, and S&M. Secondly, the three-way creed of BDSM behavior: Safe, Sane, and Consensual. Thirdly, the three divisions of our community: Tops, Bottoms, and Switches.

It is this third symbolism that gives meaning to the holes in each unit. Since BDSM is at the very least a play style and at its greatest a love style, the holes represent the incompleteness of any individual within the BDSM context. However "together" and "whole" individuals may be, there remains a void within them that can only be filled by a complimentary other. BDSM cannot be done alone.

The resemblance to a three-way variation on the Yin-Yang symbol is not accidental. As the curved outline of Yin and Yang represent the hazy border between where one ends and the other begins, so do the curved borders here represent the indistinct divisions between B&D, D&S, and S&M.

The metal and metallic color of the medallion represents the chains or irons of BDSM servitude/ownership. The three inner fields are black, representing a celebration of the controlled dark side of BDSM sexuality.

The curved lines themselves can be seen as a stylized depiction of a lash as it swings, or even an arm in motion to deliver an erotic spanking. The all-embracing circle, of course, represents the overlying unity of it all and the oneness of a community that protects its own."

The above quote is from the site listed below. kind regards ........

a friend of mine wears a necklace similar to this but it has her Master's name on it instead of hers. The bracelet pictured is similar to the necklace, but it has a "regular" chain. When the non-kinked ask why has his name she just tells them that she loves her husband.

My girl makes jewelry and such as a hobby/way to make money.

So we spent a day at a bead shop making a fairly nice looking necklace, which I explained the meaning of to her.

It's really pretty, I may take a picture and show you all.

It's a matter of what's acceptable to the company you keep, who will be seeing it, when it will be worn...etc.

In our case, I wanted something she could wear almost all the time, so a pretty necklace was just the thing. It's all a matter of what works for you.

I personally like this particular collar...http://dragoncutlery.com/eternitycollar.html I know someone who had the thinnest version of it and it looks like a very modern piece of jewlery. She never takes it off...of course she can't because her PYL has the tool needed to open it lol. Vanilla's never realize what it is and she's even had family members ask where she bought it because they want one!

STUNNING STUNNING STUNNING

"Master Silver & Gold Smith, Walraven van Heeckeren - On this Australian web page the third image from the left is the target of this link. Sterling silver, made to fit the individual wearer and locked with a hidden magnetic device, activated by a separate ring that can be worn by the Master. Ingenious!
He now has a new collar - rolled leather encasing a stainless steel cable. This collar is secured using a spring hasp lock in sterling silver."

~ Ohh had a look at the 'Velcro Collar' had a chuckle at the name but even that was beautiful , quite elegant , definately the closest I have ever been to saying I want a velcro collar thats for certain......smiles ~

Thank You LovnMaster these are the best I have ever seen online. Plus they are local to me woo hoo !!!!

These ideas are all fabulous! Kaeyron commanded that I select several collars from the CuffMe.com website to submit to Him as a list. Of course, He has the final say in which collar I receive. In this case, He felt it best that I be able to influence the choice because He is quite unused to the society I live in and because of certain mental blocks that I have. If He gives His permission, perhaps we will be able to post pictures of the collar I receive.
Do keep the ideas coming though as it seems there are many people who are interested in this topic. Of course, I will continue following it because, well, there are shiny things here. Shinies.....

I have that same collar, only mine is in black; signifying my African American Master.

I love it, I work in retail and never take it off. I've had several people ask me about it, but I just tell them it is like a promise ring between me and my boyfriend :D

Sierra,
Do you find that this response is typically well received? I am certain that I will be receiving some questions of this sort, as I do not typicall wear jewelry at all (too many years as a lab tech, I guess) so the constant presence of even one piece will certainyl inspire some questions.

Yes, they usually drop it at that point.

Even my family has seen it, and I explained it the same way... no bad reactions at all :)

We believe it's not the physical composition of the collar that matters but the meaning. While my SO wears a traditional collar in private, her public collar is a simple strand of black pearls. Yes, pearls......... ;)
