Disappearing votes

I wonder if anyone could help me. At least three of my recently posted stories have been losing votes over the weeks, which have meant they have lost their H status. One has gone from 11 to 9, another from 10 to 6 and another from 7 to 4. I understand how trolls reduce the overall rating of a story, but I don't understand how the total number of votes can suddenly reduce without any rhyme or reason.

Has anyone else suffered this?

The site owners periodically do sweeps to remove troll votes along with any duplicate votes that might be present.

Sweeps have been going on related to the monthly contests, and the Valentine's day contest. Contest sweeps are especially draconian, and will wipe out votes all over creation. Until the Valentine's winners and the last two months worth of Reader's Choice winners post, no vote you have is safe.

Blame it on the trolls and the people who read the same story every day, and vote 5 on it each time. With the system in place, sweeps are the only way to try and keep things on the level.

Yeah, I have a story that has no new reads, but the votes have gone from 99 to 98 to 97 to 96 to 94 over a period of a week...go figure that one out...

The ones that get under my skin are the two where I've lost over half the total votes on non-contest stories, 90% of which I have PCs or emails to confirm they're perfectly legitimate *laugh*

Hell, even the B.S. 1 vote with a PC should have stayed. The reason for the 1 vote was bogus ( obvious I don't like this sort of thing so I'm down voting it without reading ), but at least it had a reason.

And I haven't seen a single vote vanish off either of my two contest entries. Everything else I've written is getting the beat down, but the contest entries are untouched
