Ok. I need something fairly exotic, yet something the *All American Homeboy* will still eat.

I've been racking my brain, the brain of my mother and the brain of the Motherinlaw to be for a week.

I am SO tired of Rice and Beans and Chicken. I mean really. I know like 500 different ways to make it lol.

And he wants me to try something *Out of the Ordinary*

Help?

Nah, too plain. I think it's *Too White* for him LOL. Plus i made some potatos and steak last night so...

steam some salmon alone with some veggies. boil up some wild rice

Forget that. Man go Italian or better yet Southern

Cook the boy up some good ole collard greens, fried chicken, hominy and cornbread. :)

See the problem is he is puertorican, and I'm from Italian descent so we've worn out the Spanish food and the Italian.
Which sucks since those are the two things I am best at cooking. Not to mention the fact that he is extremely picky. I am so tired of cooking 500 variations of the same thing over and over again, and he wants something not *normal*. Damnit, give a man a little and he wants everything LOL ::duck::

Seriously though I decided to make seafood linguini, and if he doesn't like it he can always have a nice big bowl of cornflakes.

LOL...

April, I was just going to suggest switching things up by having "breakfast" for dinner. When my Dad would gett sassy about supper, my mother would always decide it was either omelette night or pancake night, or crepe night. Mixes it up a little ;-)

A nice omelette with mushrooms, oninons, green peppers, olives, garlic, ham, and different type of cheese can be hearty enough for supper. Mix it up with some roasted potatoes and fruit and it's at least different ;-)

Even though it's probably to late for tonight's dinner here are three items:

1-Sloppy Joe's

2-Texas Tommies - Slice a hot dog lengthwise 3/4 deep, add your favorite cheese and wrap a strip of bacon around the whole dog. Bake them in an oven. Some people then add chili sauce or baked beans over top when served.

3-Tortilla steak sandwich- cook up some thin pieces of steak (1/4"), lay flat in a warmed round flour tortilla, add cheese and red sauce, roll up and serve.

Hey again! Just wanted to report that my Baked Ziti was sooooooooo good, though I know you are tired of the Italian stuff! I *did* however make a recipe from that site called "Caramel Apple Pork Chops" that were really yummy the other night, I'll definitely make them again and they were really easy! They have got lots to look at as well as the SOAR site that someone listed above, check em out for great ideas and good luck! :D

How can you people eat this food?

Couscous, stir-fry with broccoli, sliced carrots, snap-peas, peanuts, and chicken.

You have to expose their developing palettes to a verity of tastes, textures and scents, otherwise they'll have deformed taste buds when they mature.

Dumping soup, steamed cabbage, black tea with cream,
Pork chops sautéed with slices of tangerine,
Barbequed stake or fried chicken wings.
(These are a few of my favorite thing)

Flan and a rye roll with a smidgen lox,
Cornbread and okra with greens and ham hock,
Italian lamb sausage stuffed with cranberry,
Pound cakes or flat cakes cooked with brandy and sherry.

They'll never know the joy of calamari and wasabi,
Roasted white corn or shrimps of the barbi.
What's live with out squab liver with artichoke hearts?
Devil's Black Decadence and chocolate fig tarts?
It might sound strange, these foods that I sing.
But these are a few of my favorite things

Hmmm.. now I'm hungry.

Feeding people is an act of love.
I've always wondered if some eating disorders exist because people don't think they should be loved.

Anyway, what to you want first?

Italian lamb sausage stuffed with cranberry,

ungh. need lamb NOW

:p

Lamb chops with a paste of dion mustard, soy sauce ,crushed garlic and rosemary. Let them marinate with the mixture on them and then broil them to your choice. Mine is med well. I serve them with a nice curried rice(hot one) and yogurt and cucumber tomatoe salad. Raspberry Sorbet or Lemon is great as a finish.

You could go Scottish - and I don't mean haggis (even I think that's disgusting). Try making Mince and Tatties (minced beef and potatoes).

1 lb (one pound) of minced beef
1 oxo cube & bisto (Do you have those there? If not just ignore them. I guess you could add Wourcester sauce for extra flavouring.)
2 small onions
2 carrots
1/4 pint water (do you measure in pints there?)
Potatoes.

Here's what my Mum wrote for me when I left home:

"Put minced beef in a pot with 1/4 pint of water. Stir until brown. Add crumbled Oxo cube, two whole onions, the chopped up carrots and a little salt and pepper. Bring to the boil. Simmer for one hour. Take a teaspoon of bisto. Mix with a little cold water. Make up to a 1/2 cupful with water. Stir this into the mince. (Do not let mince boil dry. Add more water if required.) Serve with boiled potatoes and veg."

Or you could try making something Chinese (chicken & cashew nuts) or Indian (chicken korma and nan bread).

Angel, try Korean food. Yeah I know, it's got rice, but man, the Korean's have an awesome array of food. You could always make yaka soba noodles <clear noodles that you cook in a light soy sauce and sugar mix>, serve it with bulgogi<thin steak(rouladen preferably), cut into small strips, marinade it in soy sauce, sugar, and red pepper, then cook with pineapple, green peppers and onions. And then make some fried rice. Damn, now I'm hungry. Of course, there's always crepes suzettes, chicken fried xteak, with biscuits and white gravy, and...and...damn it. now I gotta go find something healthy to eat.

Celestial Body and Never

OMFG thank you two, I am now going to gain about 700 pounds trying all this out.

And thank ALL of you with your ideas, I've printed out everything, yes EVERYTHING and printed out alot of the stuff from the sites you've all linked me to. I'll be cooking up a storm for the next three years lol.

I know I know. Laurel can give us permission to use Literoticacookbook.com and we can make the Literotica Cook Book site

LOL

THANK YOU ALL

No offense Never, but do you have ANY idea of what you are talking about? How long have YOU been a parent, hmm? For your information, children do not even begin to develop their tastebuds until they reach adolescence. How do I know this? I asked our family doctor when I became concerned that I could only get my children to eat Chicken Nugget's and Corn. I was then told that they can only really taste sweet and sour and that a lot of other things I was trying to "expose" them to was only going to taste bitter to them until they reached adolescence. (and to keep feeding them what they WILL eat)

Dinner here is struggle enough without seeing your unknowledgeable reply to what I posted. I feel like I am trying to get my children to eat all the time, and I probably end up making them six meals a day just to make sure that the one or two bites they eat at each sitting, is enough for their little, growing bodies.

Your recipe ideas were great, and those dishes sound yummy, but consider keeping your writing to what you do know about.

Sorry I'm so angry, the comment you made just hit me so hard.

I've been a parent for 7 years. I have always exposed my children to different tastes, and our family doctor says that it's a wonderful thing. My youngest loves to chow down on spicy kim-chee, green vegetables, anything that she likes. Oh yes, they definitely tell what they like and don't like. They don't spaghetti-O's cause there's not enough taste, but they love homemade spaghetti. My youngest doesn't like junkfood all that much, while the oldest two love it. Dinner is always a struggle with children, no matter what you feed them. Give them what they like, then gradually expose them to different tastes. Nobody said to do it all at once.
