Dilemma

I've finally gotten up the courage and determination to write an erotic story. Not a big deal for some, but I'm rather insecure, and knowing that millions of people could (potentially) read it is a big deal for me. The story revolves around a young woman whose home is invaded by a burglar. Ok, so what's your point you say? well, this will probably be viewed as a rape fantasy from where the story is heading now, and i guess rightly so. I've been reading the "where's the line thread" intently since it began and i've seen some very valid points on both sides of the rape story argument. I do not want to in any way traumatize anyone who has been subject to rape as i know several women who have been raped and just how much it fucks them up for lack of a better phrase. I also do not want to encourage anyone to go out and rape someone. here's the dilemma, I really like the story so far, and i wanna finish it. does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can fulfill my own selfish need to publish and/or share this story without having to worry about some sick fuck going out and trying to reenact it or some unfortunate soul whose been subject to a similar situation stumbling across it?
i know this sounds like i'm trying to absolve myself of responsibility, but, as someone else mentioned in a different thread, i think everyone is responsible for their own actions. anyways, i'm rambling now and i guess i'd just like some second opinions.

Dear Shadolust,

In my opinion, the person that would commit a violent crime such as rape is already on that path. I seriously doubt that your story or any story is going to be the motive behind it. People have blamed everything from books to movies to music for violent crime and teen pregnancy and child abuse and suicide but these things were around long before television and radio. I personally believe art imitates life, not the other way around. I say go ahead and finish your story. I for one look forward to reading it. Although rape fantasies are one of my favorites, I would never, ever hope to experience it 'for real' and I would never condone it 'for real'. And as far as traumatizing someone...That person has the choice not to read your story just as I have the choice to read it. But that choice doesn't exist if your story doesn't exist. Good luck!

If the woman initiates the sex, then it's not rape, it's sex with a stranger or casual sex. I have no idea what kind of changes it would take for you to turn things around like that. If you'd like to send it to me for editing, I'll see what I can suggest to make the change with a minimum of revision.

It might be something as simple as adding "Where are you going? Aren't you going to ravish me before you leave?"

of course that would probably be followed by "You're crazy lady. burglary is only seven to ten years. Rape is a life sentence in this state."

Pull your head out of your ass, fuck everyone else, and go for it! Finish your story or risk hemmorhoids.

i pondered it a little after i posted and decided to finish up. i'm about halfway through i think. it's not the greatest thing i've ever read or written, but it's a start. keep your eyes open on the new stories for "cat" burglar.

i'll probably have it proofed and send it to a few select people first to rewrite/edit it a bit, but i'll definitely send it to laurel when i'm done. thanx to everyone whose posted so far.

Shadolust,

I have a story I wrote a few years ago about rape. It not posted at Lit 'cause I would have to do a TON of editing to it (and I'm not in the mood to do it at this time). If you'd like to read it, I can e-mail it to you. Just let me know... And good luck on yours!!!

Hey, guy, good luck on your writing. Since you're not finished yet, here's my two cents. Look at your story and try to make it different in some way from the other burglary turned sex-fest stories. I think you might be able to search Literotica to find burglary stories. Read those and see if there's a way to tweak your plot so that it's unique.

Also, take advantage of the volunteer editors.

I finished my story last night and i believe i've taken the rape element out completely. i am not entirely satisfied with it, and i've requested an edit by a volunteer editor. but, i am glad to have finished my first story. thanks for all the encouragement from everyone.

any other volunteer editors out there (preferably female) care to give it a look for content, flow, and accurate portrayal of a female perspective for me? i'm still waiting for a response to the request i've sent already.

Shado,

Mail me your wonder. I'd love to give it the once over and see if I can help you out. I was told in all mu lit classes over the years it's best to read your work printed out and/or out loud. And it's also better to have another (or others) read it.

Shadow, no offense to you or any one out there reading this, but Literotica is a relatively unrestricted site. There are categories for all sorts of deviant behavior, which may make most of the readership uncomfortable at some time. Point is, if the story ideas that you have can fit into what Laurel and Manu are willing to post, then go for it. Don't worry about general consensus from other readers, excercise your creative freedom and go for it. Someone out there may love your tale, someone else might hate it, who knows, but whether they like it or not, it's still your story to write.
