Dildo vs. vibrator size??

I seem to notice some trends when women speak of their dildos and vibrators:

1) The dildo is noticeably larger than the vibrator - why is that?

2) Most women seem to have both a dildo and a vibrator - why is that?

With the wide variety of vibrators out there that look to be as large and flexible as a dildo, why have both, and why have different sizes? Why not just have a couple of vibrators of different sizes?

1. Because want mine I wanted to have something to hold onto so knowing what the maximum depth is I purchased one that was longer.

I have two vibrators. The first one is seven inches long gelly purple thing. Seven inches looked ALOT smaller in the catalog.

The second is also seven inches, but the width is a bit smaller. I bought this one because I wanted something smaller. Nope. And it takes C batteries, which I never seem to have.
