I would definitely recommend a dildo that has a base, be it a suction cup, balls or even just a kind of "Y" at the bottom designed to keep it outside of you. I think what he might have been taking issue with was the part about having to cut it out of you. I'm pretty sure they do not cut things out of you if they are stuck in your rectum. It's only when the object has gone too far up into your bowel that surgery becomes an option, and even then it is a last resort. Otherwise they just dilate your anus to the point that they can use forceps to pull the object back out.

Educating someone is great. But scaring them away from an activity with less than true assumptions is kind of ridiculous.

The second URL you posted has several instances of stuff getting crammed up people's arses, and in ALL of them it was removed without surgery, although sometimes with anal dilation under anaesthesia. The first URL has no incident descriptions.

I did manage to find instances in which surgery was required, but only in cases of perforations by sharp objects, or extreme deep insertions like bottles.
