The average is probably more like 4.071428571428571, at least to my calculation, and is being rounded down to the hundredths.

OK, I take your point. Since my average at 13 votes was 4.08, then it's more like 4.076923 (53/13).

So, the fourteenth vote was a '4'.

That leaves 8 points scored by three votes.
5+2+1=8
4+2+2=8
4+3+1=8
3+3+2=8

Judge for yourself, reader. Does my story only worth 1 ponint? or 2? Or even 3?

Yesterday, 10 people voted 4.5!

Chill, CV. We've all been something similar.

The votes go up. The votes go down. They're updated, normalized, de-statified, squeezed, corrected, and massaged. There are people who will bomb your stories with ones because they don't like you. There are people who will bomb you with ones because one of your posts has pissed them off. There are people who will one-bomb any story that gets an H rating.

The trick is not to pay too much attention to the votes. There's not as much useful information in them as you'd like to think; certainly not enough to warrant this kind of nail-biting and agonizing statistical analysis.

Concentrate on the feedback and the public comments. Strive to do your best and leave the votes to fate. That's all you can do.

Actually, the figures are more like 1.6 billion now.. though there's a possibility the government is lying to make it look as if it's got the thing under control. The figure could be up to 1.8 billion

Right. If one has one's dignity one wouldn't do this. I certainly wasn't going to do this.

But, hey. Dignity: I don't have much use.

So, here goes.

This morning, my newest story had ten votes with 4.5 average: thus H mark. That's roughly five '5' votes and five '4' votes.

Now, my story has 14 votes with 4.0 average.

I had 45 total points from the ten votes (4.5x10).

4x14=56

I got 11 additional points from the additional 4 votes. That's what - 3x3+2? 4x2+1+2? 5+1+2+3?

The same thing happened to my earlier stories. And it certainly sucks (not my stories, obviously).

It's more likely a four and a five and a pair of ones. Once you get the "H", you can expect to get a few bombs. You should know that by now and it has been the subject of many threads so I won't say any more.

I just read your correction. 13 * 4 = 52. That's an increase of seven. Probably one five and two ones.

People have any number of reasons to bomb stories. If a man uses a condom, some will object. If he doesn't, others will object. Some will bomb any interracial story because they don't like interracial sex. Some will bomb a celebrity story because they don't like the celeb or because they do and don't like what you said about him or her. Some will bomb a gay or lesbian story because it portrays casual sex and they want to claim that all such relationships are committed ones. (Many are, but not all.) Of course some will bomb a story because they think it is poorly written. They will bomb a stroke story because of lack of plot or charachter development. There are also more sinister reasons but I won't get into them.
