to be direct...i need help.

im a good writer and quite creative. im pretty familiar with the conventions of writing as i was a writing major in college (before i changed to music) and the son of a journalist.

problem is...im a tech guy. a digital geek that lives most of my life in a sea of code, IM's, emails and text messages.

it first became obvious to me on a recent trip to europe. while attempting to keep a daily written account of my thoughts and events i realized that i am a complete slave to spellcheck and the keyboard. my hand was throbbing after writing 3 paragraphs.

ive fancied a return to writing and had a few close friends encourage me to write erotica after reading some of my work. so i submitted my first selection and was quickly smacked down to reality. the main reason for the rejection was improper punctuaion in my dialogue. simple stuff...i know...but easy to see why an out of practice write like myself could be tripped up by such a thing

after i tended to my ego, i realized that i want to be able to write good stories. and good writing (whether the characters are having hot sex or hot coffee) has certain rules.

im hoping i can begin to interact with someone who would be willing to review my work and offer strong critique on the good, the bad and the ugly. i know i can get an editor from searching the DB...but i would hope to find a person (or more) that i can count on to regularly review...additonally, i communicate more via email or IM as opposed to a message board.

if i dont have any luck this way, i will use the search feature...however i thought i would give this approach the "ol college try"

thanks for your time.

Communication: I'm a developer and I have some of the same issues you pointed out. I'm a slave to my compliers. I write stories like I write code. Difference is my IDE correct spelling error, formatting, and puncuation :D Word only underline things in green and red, and is too subjective. What if I makeup a word? My IDE say it's ok, because you defined it. Word's ignore and add to dictionary don't help when I take my work to another computer.

How about proofreaders? I know editing is a profession, but really I need another set of eyes. If I spend my time editing, it would take away from the joy of writing.
