Am new here, want to know what is the best digital camera to get for under two hundred and fifty dollars (in Canadian). Want to get one and take some pics. Thanks for the help.
what you want to get is a digital camera with at least 2.1 megapixels. Between 2.1 and 3.3 should be perfect. Besides that you want a good memory card. But you can buy that later. Most come with 8 mb that hold about 30 pics. You can buy 8,16,32 or 64. A 32mb will cost you about $60 americian.
If you plan on taking pics from far away you will need a good zoom. The 2x and 3x ones are crap. thats what most have. What you need is a good 6x to 10x zoom. You can be several blocks away and zoom right in on someones face.
For $200 you can get a good 2.1 megapixel with 8mb card and 3x zoom. Try a web search.
If you aren't going to print many of them, even 2.1 megapixels is kind of overkill. 2.1 megapixels is 1600x1200, and unless you have a 19" monitor the chances of a picture actually being as small as your screen (in terms of pixel count) is negligible.
I have a 1.3 MP Canon PowerShot A10 (1.3 MP is 1280x1024) that I got from Staples for $330 CDN. It has 3x optical zoom, which you don't need if you're just going to take casual pictures of people and scenery and stuff like that.
Henry's, an Ontario-based retailer, stocks a pretty wide variety of new, used, and refurbished cameras - I was looking at Fuji's FinePix 1300 there, which they had (refurbished) for $190 CDN. It's 1.3 MP, comes with 8 MB of SmartMedia if I recall correctly.
I think that HP's PhotoSmart 2xx series can be had for inside $250 CDN these days. Check out Staples or Henry's to see what they've got in stock. You should be able to get a 1.3 MP camera with decent image quality (Fuji's cameras are well-known for their excellent image quality even in the low-end models) inside your price range.
Thanks guys! I hope to look at some tomorrow morning if I can get out. What is the best Photo program is good for resizing and shriking the size of pic so it does not take alot of memory. Thanks again
Now that I can't help you with, unless you have a Mac (I have a Mac). Apple's iPhoto is free and beats the snot out of the software that came with my camera, but that doesn't do you any good.
I really have no idea on the Windows front, sorry.
