Did You See That Big Girl on the Tube

Sometime last week, I began to notice big curvy girls in white bikinis staring at me on the escalators in the London Underground.

They're part of a Dove Body Wash poster campaign. Big, real, curved girls, one or two with visible stretch marks. All with wonderful cheeky, defiant expressions. Sexiest ad campaign I've seen for ages.

The ad slogan is "for girls with curves".

I think the film "Calender Girls" may be influential: Basically, "normal" women looking, and acting, sexy and confident.

After seeing them, I googled and found this article:

Dove Poster Campaign

(yes I know the girl pictured is more BBW than "normal", but the other girls featured aren't quite this shapely)

Right behind Mack (a good place to be). Thanks for this, Joe. I so wish there would be more "real" women all 'round.

I wish all advertisers would come to their senses and do the same thing.

I have to disagree with your opinion of the featured woman. I think she is sexy in a curvaceous, womanly way. I enjoyed the show "Ally McBeal", but NOT because of the looks of the star.

Box, that was my point: The pictured model is as atypical as the usual skinny models, and has a figure many women would kill for, and lots of men, (including you and me) will clearly find sexy.

Look at the second photo in Perdita's post for some of the less "boing" women featured in the campaign.

All the women in the second photo look good to me. The one on the far right has a figure a lot like my wife's but the model is a lot younger, of course.

To me, all the women in both the pics look a lot better than the usual model. When I say "model" I am referring to models for products, not necessarily figure models.:p

Looked at the poster pic on the link. She looked perfectly fine to me.

Except that hair. I HATE the hair-flying-in-the-wind effect.

Amazing what an award winning actress can do isnt it?

There are so many great movies out there where the leading actress had to gain a few lbs, or kgs to get the part.

Minnie Driver- ( The story of her and Matt Damon at Oxford Univ.)
The lady in , My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
and so on...

Im so pleased that Advertizers are getting the picture, not all women are twigs.

KUDOS to Dove!!

Amen

There is nothing, and I do mean no thing, like a *real* woman.

Mind you, there have been great strides in technology in the last few years

I saw the ad in Joes first article from afar on a local bus. I couldn't read the blurb but I could see she had curves and I was pretty impressed by that!

My own personal website has going on for 2000 members now....and I know for certain the number one attractor is the members galleries. Every one who has pictures there is a real woman or man. We have big folks like me and skinny ones too but what people love about it is that these people are real with real wobbly bits!

Another hurrah for Dove from me. I hope other brands catch on to the trend!

:) My wife uses Dove soap already and if those ads are placed in the US, I will get her to start using other Dove products. I think policies like this should be encouraged.

I saw "The Diary of Bridget Jones" and thought the star had a very sexy figure. Later I learned she was tring to be unattractive. As far as I am concerned, she failed. I saw "A Place in the Sun" with Liz Taylor and Shelley Winters. I thought Shelley was the sexier of the two, which is going some, but the movie was in B & W, which may have been part of it. In descriptions of the movie, she is described as a "chubby shop girl". Shop girl, yes, a little chubby also, but in a sexy way.:p

:rose: I see you have my favorite AV of you, EL, the one that inspired me to write a story.

A Stepford wife might be okay with me, Joe, as long as she had a few wrinkles and maybe a little celulite. :D
