For those of you are news impaired, a small non-threatning aircraft came within 4 miles of the White House Wednesday. The man flying it was avoiding bad weather and got lost. Anyway, the secret service evacuated the Whit House with the exception of two people........THE PRESIDENT and FIRST LADY!!!! Not only that, the plane did not get escorted out of the sky until AFTER it had turned away from the White House. Makes me feel a little safer now.

Do you by chance remember when the pilot of a small plane actually tried to crash into the White House?

Maybe they have reason for concern?

Should they wait until it is too late and then look like dumb asses?

Just what was the point of your post anyhow?

I think he was just saying that said concern was expressed in ways that were too little and too late. The f-16's were dispatched too late to turn aside or stop the aircraft. And what most people would consider the most important occupants of the White House weren't evacuated.

It's kinda like the guy who landed his Cessna in Red Square some time ago.

Thanks katori I think you explained it to me.

I would expect Bush to stay behind. Not the first lady. Bush is the leader, the leader doesn't run.

Don't you think a Stinger A/G would take out a small aircraft? Gee, I wonder how many of them are posted around the White House these days. Ain't nothing getting in there by air.

You don't send your F-16s into an area that may soon have a dozen air to ground missles flying through it. They wait, then pull in to escort.

All Bush had to do was step into an elevator, and head down to the situation room. How many feet is that underground?

I was in (West) Germany when that kid flew into Moscow. Got his name on the tip of my tounge. Caused quite a stir in NATO. He only spent a few years in jail didn't he? I know it wasn't much, and he has be released.

Everyone was safe. The pilot was in contact with the authorities. He was lost. CNN wanted the sh00tdown. If they could have, they would have tapped into the fighter pilot's frequency screaming, sh00t, sh00t, sh00t, sh00t...
