Who knew how hard it would be to eat the daily recommended allowances of fruits and veggies. Do you eat yours? Are you more heavily weighted toward fruits? I find most people can tolerate a lot of fruit but not a lot of veggies. I'd also like to know who came up with the stupid ass rule that peas and corn were NOT vegetables...DAMMIT!!! Ok...I feel better.

*sigh* I still miss french fries... *chanting* 30 days to make a new habit, 30 days to make a new habit.

Pah, you weakling. Eating veggies is what life is all aboot.

Most days, I blend a raw veg drink of a carrot, a beet, kale, chard, parsley, celery, and broccoli. It provides an awesome, clear-headed energy boost and kicks in more than the minimum veg count. It's great for horrible tasks like doing one's taxes, writing on deadline, etc.

I considered that but since I'm already drinking one of my meals per day (breakfast), I thought it a bit much. I researched the juicing option and the calorie intake in one glass is equal to one meal. Good suggestion though and one I might revisit if I can't keep up with the leafy greens, carrots, beets, etc.

I'm bound and determined to rid myself of the junk food and caffeine habit by years end.

Fruits ARE better than Veggies, I agree. The only good Veggies are Corn, Carrots, and Celery. Anything else, BLAH!!!!!!!!!

I live on fast food, slimfast, beer, and baby carrots. I easily eat a couple pounds a week.

I live on smoothies. They're the staple of my diet.

Fresh fruit, juice, plain yogurt, blend, guzzle.

The best I ever made was fresh peaches and strawberries with orange juice. Heaven in a glass. I have a hand-held blender, too, so there isn't even that much clean-up afterwards.

As for veggies, I like them fine if someone else prepares them. Set a plate of steamed broccoli before me, and I'll scarf it down like popcorn. The actual process of preparing it is the big turn-off. Yeah, yeah, I know: cutting it up and putting it in the steamer basket isn't exactly brain surgery, but it takes up valuable time I could be using to do... uh... stuff.

I eat tons of veggies, and I love it.
I am a vegitarian. That's why.
Today I had my broccoli.

Okay, So, Just to make it official, from a botanical, biological and a nutritional standpoint.....
Peas, and Corn ARE vegetables.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is ignorant.

Let me clarify...if you are following the dietary guidelines set forth by the American Diabetes Association...peas and corn are considered starch exhanges...not veggie exchanges.

I grabbed my nutrition text book (had to drop that class:eek: )
You're right! Learn something new everyday.

Okay, well, that is applicable to their diet. Not to classification of the actual substance. Sorry, I am a Horticulturist, and a Biology student and I was going on the definition that I know of botanically, but actually if I get nit picky.... they are dicotomus seeds.

So, I will now go eat peas and corn, in honor of those who have diabetes. :D
