I couldn't believe they gave the Russian figure skaters the gold medal! What fraud!

Probably

The Summer Olympics had a scandal whereby the athlete's were on dope.

The Winter Olympics now has a scandal because their judges are dopes.

I think so

And as it was happening, we were talking about what happened to the ice dancing last time. But unless someone caught the French judge e-mailing the Russians with his complicity or has a conversation on tape, I don't think there's any hope of a change in the results.

This was in today's Toronto Globe and Mail about my favorite Elvis:

Stojko did little wrong in the short program of the men's competition. He sprawled out of a quadruple toe loop, but gathered himself for the second part of the combination, a triple toe loop. Plushenko totally crashed on the first part of the same combination that Stojko does and missed the second part altogether. Still, he wasn't hit as severely in the marks as veteran
Stojko.

Stojko is in seventh place, out of range of a medal. He looked rather stunned when his marks were put up. The technical marks went from a low of 4.9 from the Bulgarian judge to a high of 5.4 from the Azerbaijan judge. There is no Canadian judge on the panel.

Stojko was placed as low as ninth by judges from Australia, Finland, and Bulgaria. The Bulgarian judge drew onto the panel at the last minute when Chinese judge Yang Jiasheng fell ill. Yang was also a judge on the controversial pairs panel.

Stojko was at a loss to understand the marks. He figures, with what he did, he should have had a base mark of about 5.8. His presentation marks ranged from 5.5 to 5.7.

"Where they're getting deductions from, I have no clue," he said. "But once you get caught up in trying to figure out what the marks are, you're wasting your time.

"I went out there and skated the best I could. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. That's what I'm here for. That's what I'll do in the long program [Friday]."

Stojko said Tuesday night this Olympics will be his final competition. He will not go to the world championships in Nagano next month.

"For me, I've been dealing with the ups and downs, and the side of style throughout my whole career, but I've carved a place out for myself in the sport, and to say that I've helped advance it and push it forward is a big thing. Not too many people have done that. It feels good. You don't always have to win."

He told Jamie Salé and David Pelletier after their loss Monday night that "you guys skated like Olympic champions. You had the gold medal performance. Don't let anybody take that away from you."

Stojko said he will take a holiday after the Olympics, enjoy himself, then go on a tour in April.

I saw that, I thought the Canadians had won hands down! I guess scoring figure skating is to subjective, too much left in the hands of the judges.

OMG....they got it right up the ass with no vaseline whatsoever

Oh, yes they did get screwed.

But, there is an investigation now ... Canada demanded one :) (gotta love those Canadians)

But, they did skate the gold medal routine ... and anyone with a limited knowledge of skating and eyes in their heads knows that!
