Did I Break Literotica?

Hi there!

I think there is a glitch in the recording of votes in Literotica, and this has nothing to do with the way the score is calculated.

The short version is this: a story that was accepted to Literotica (The Red Herring) sometime in the last 24 hours has accrued 105 votes with about 1300 views, and, f I remember correctly, about 90 of those votes came in the last two hours, while the views of the story only increased by, at most, 300.

I'm not upset with the score (which is weighing in at about a 4.25 in the Literotica submission panel; it's actually making me happy), but it seems to me a little bit fishy that so many votes would be recorded in such a short span of time, especially considering the vote-to-view ratio of the few other stories I've posted (all of which have been up for only a brief amount of time, as well).

Has anyone else seen this happen?

P.S. -- I have a screenshot I took, cropped to stats of the story in question in my submission panel, but didn't know if it would be a good idea to show it.

It does sound odd, but I'd be more inclined to think that user error/over-enthusiasm is to blame than a glitch in Lit.

Regardless, I wouldn't get too attached to those votes. The odds are that the sweeps will take them out. Either somebody went looney voting a bunch of times, or the system did glitch and recorded the same vote a bunch of times. Either way, they'll all probably have the same IP and the sweeps will remove all the duplicates the next time the script runs on your story.

You might have been caught in the notorious sweeps.

I just looked at a story I posted about 6 weeks ago.The votes had been 52 with a score of 4.42. I hadn't looked at it for maybe 10 days.

I just looked a few minutes ago and the votes are still at 52 but the score jumped to 4.48. So who knows.

Mike
