There is a legal sovereign type of being, recognized in law from at least the Roman Empire on. Said sovereign type of being is a part of Emglish common law and has been since before there was an England. The legal state is called Outlaw.

An Outlaw is a non-person. A legally declared Outlaw has no legal rights, none. In the old west of the USA, there were wanted posters specifying, 'Dead or Alive.' The legal basis for the posters was Outlaw.

I live in the western USA. In each of the states in which I have lived, there are written laws that justify the Outlaw designation. Said laws are not enfoced, but they do exist.

If you want to live sovereign, live Outlaw. JMHO.
 
I learn about the most interesting things here at Lit. I had never heard of the Sovereign Citizen types until today.

"I'm not subject to the laws of the land or to taxation because, in my opinion, that's just the way it is. (Followed by reams and reams of pseudo-legal baffle gab.)"

When the baffle gab is followed by gunfire from an AK-47 and two police officers are murdered with two more severely injured...it has become insane.

It's Personal Freedom and Individual Liberty taken to it's insane conclusion. "I'd rather die fighting than be forced to have a driver's license."

This is very scary stuff.

Yes it is. These types fail to understand that freedom is perfect obedience to perfect law, not total disregard for any but themselves.

That would be Miami, or Dade County.
 
This guy sounds like a real nut case. For one thing, being a US citizen is NOT a requirement to pay income taxes. Anybody who has a job and makes enough money is required to pay taxes, citizen or not. I have a daughter and two grandchildren who are immigrants and green card holders and they work and pay income taxes. That's even besides the fact it was a really dumb thing for him to do.

I've thought about this some more. The idea some people have they are somehow ABOVE the law is quite an old one. Radicals in the Sixties and Seventies thought so. They realized what they were doing was, technically, illegal, but believed their motive was so pure and noble they were not bound by ordinary laws. The Watergate burglars probably had a similar mindset.

I suspect those who commit "Honor Killings" have a similar idea.

There's a bunch of them in the Atlanta area, squatting in foreclosed homes and driving around with paper tags. I wonder what country would take them?

Isn't that just an anarchist? Really, I wish these people wouldn't keep trying to re-invent the wheel. If you want to be an anarchist, say so!
 
They can't be anarchists because in America anarchy and communism are closely linked in a lot of people's minds.

So these people ennobled themselves with a new title.
