Did ANY Democrat watch the Democrat debate?

Hillary Clinton has no plans to get out of Iraq and she’s the presumptive nominee.

You know, I'm not going to get into hypotheticals and make pledges because I don't know what I'm going to inherit, George. I don't know, and neither do any of us know, what will be the situation in the region, how much more aggressive will Iran have become? What will be happening in the Middle East? How much more of an influence will the chaos in Iraq have in terms of what's going on in the greater region? Will we have pushed Al-Qaeda in Iraq out of their strongholds with our -- our new partnerships with some of the, uh, the tribal sheiks, or will they have regrouped and retrenched?

Discuss…

I think the fact that Branagh's Hamlet is now available on DVD after ten years is much more awesome than anything any US President could presently accomplish in four years.

And that includes the "Years of Withdrawal, part III" from Iraq.

DVD is so American-Spanish war...
So the upcoming election is pretty much a non-event.

What shall we discuss now?

Ever read Spengler?

Shall we set out across the sea of faces
In search of more and more applause?
Shall we buy a new guitar?
Shall we drive a more powerful car?
Shall we work straight through the night?
Shall we get into fights?
Leave the lights on?
Drop bombs?
Do tours of the east?
contract diseases?
Bury bones?
Break up homes?
Send flowers by phone?
Take to drink?
Go to shrinks?
Give up meat?
Rarely sleep?
Keep people as pets?
Train dogs?
Race rats?
Fill the attic with cash?
Bury treasure?
Store up leisure?
But never relax at all
With our backs to the wall.

No...

I'm gonna go see if anyone kicked Bill O'Reilly...
As if anyone with half a brain would care who kicked or didn't kick Bill O'Reilly, even for two seconds.

So at the end of the decision process it's like pigs caring about who chose the seed for the corn that became their food.

You don't like it? Well, that's what you get, anyway.

But you have freedom of expression, even though the sheep have no clue, so cut loose.

Let's debate that.

Exciting shit.

Am I to assume you did not watch the debate and that your mind is made up, or is it just too soon to make a decision?

I can clear up a few things —

I did not watch the debate.

My mind is never made up.

No matter who wins, nothing fundamental will change.

Is "fundamental" really the word you wanted to use?

And I beg to differ. The one thing every Democrat is promising is more taxation. If the people who promised us less gave us more, what the hell do you think the people promising more are going to give us?

"Fundamental" is exactly the word I wanted to use.

Both parties are enemies to the US Constitution, but each attacks in a different way, so that the see-saw every four years cuts deeper into the log each time.

I can't disagree too much with that, but the Progressives (like Mrs. Bill Clinton) don't even pretend fealty to the Constitution; they are smarter than people were 200 years ago. The original crackers were relying on 2000 years of history. What idiots!

There you have it.

Ignorance with a golden crown.

How can you stop hundreds of millions of ignorant people?

That's a tall order, and B. Franklin's admonition that I quoted yesterday comes to mind.

So, you've read "Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged."

How about von Humboldt, Machiavelli, and Socrates?

We're goin' off the rails onna crazy train...

If Democrats aren't watching their own people, how the hell do they know Hillary is the right choice to lead?

Because she's Bill's gal?

And this is a fundamental truth about our politics.
So my question is: if you realize that, how can you bear to continue to play the Democrat/Republican game?

(Often compared to Cowboys & Indians, red vs. yellow in "Bridge-It," black vs. white in chess, etc.)

I was fortunate enough to have been introduced to Ayn Rand late in life.

My earlier exposure was to Anthony Burgess, Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, and Aldous Huxely.

Me too.

But I didn't get Rand until 10 years after I read her late in life.

Now I see where she got her material...

Busy called me a Looney Lib.

Is Busy in charge of handing out labels?

I never got that memo, but I guess I should start updating my stationery.

Forget Ayn Rand, forget optimism, forget the inevitable outcome.

All one can control are one's own actions.

The results are beyond control.

Act rightly, as you see it, and nothing more can be expected of you.
