Dick Cheney: Man of Thousand Lies

like bush doesnt, either?

anyone want to come over on election night for a party? maybe a "day before we move to canada" party? hopefully a "send bush back to his ranch" party though!

They're all weasels.

Very rich weasels, torturing bastard weasels, fundy nutjob weasels. In the near background, an Iraqi in a hood and poncho with electic connections running to various parts of his body, standing on a box. In the foreground, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Dickwad. "Why do they hate us so much?"

"They hate our freedoms, Dickwad. It's clearly our freedoms they hate."

edited to add:
I mean Bush. not Dickwad. I misspoke to call him Dickwad.

You are always sexy. (And this has nothing to do with the fact I completely agree with your post - ;) )

Strong and caring men who have deep passions are very sexy.

Um...

after 100 posts on the forums here, you get to put up an av, an avatar, one of those picture things to the left of your actual post.

And, uh, since your handle is what it is, uh, I was hoping, like, maybe, uh...

yeah....i was gonna...but i think not having one makes sort of statement, dontcha think?

plus, no decent pictures. not gonna put my face up there. never know how many students of mine are lurking...

That leaves you with a hairless cat, I guess. Pity. And a disappointment, really.

At least you aren't a fifty-something-year-old gay guy. (Never mind, it was a previous flirt-- ignore me and your lives will be spared, as the fellow said.)

;)

As we say in Florida, vote early and vote often and vote posthumously.

Unfortunately, if you are a newly registered Florida voter your registration may have been thrown out because of a technicality. The form requires a signature swearing that the applicant is a U.S. citizen. There also happens to be a check-box to indicate citizenship, which is easily overlooked. Thousands of voter registration forms were destroyed last month by order of the Florida secretary of state (appointed by Jeb Bush to replace Kathryn Harris.) The Broward County Elections Board refused to comply, as have a few other counties, maintaining that the check-box is redundant and that the signature will suffice, as it has before.

New, mostly young voters have been registering in droves, and not as Republicans. Thousands of them won't know they've been disqualified until they arrive at the polls.

They won't be alone. The state distributed to local elections boards a list of felons who are disqualified from voting. The Miami Herald checked the state's list and found nearly 2000 people who were on it by mistake. The governor's office has said it would not recall the list, but would leave it up to local boards to decide how to use it.

A test-run of voting machines in one county resulted in a computer crash. Diebold, the manufacturer of the machines and a major Republican contributor, continues to insist that no "paper trail" is possible - or necessary - and that the crash during the test run was a fluke. Everybody who uses a computer knows that's a fairy tale.

I'm voting by absentee ballot. So are a lot of Democrats. In fact, the Democratic party has been distributing applications for absentee ballots and encouraging their use.

Are we paranoid? Four years ago, I might have thought so. Now I'm convinced that the neocons will stop at nothing to keep the White House. Nothing. They are, after all, on a mission from God.

Cheney tries to deny damn near every statement he's ever made.

On another thread I was talking about fuck ups in high places. Dick Cheney, for years has been the perfect example of this practice. He's fucked up every corporation or administration for which he's ever worked. He even fucked up Haliburton and they're still paying him! It makes me sort of regret having worked so hard all my adult life in a menial position. Had I known I could just fuck off all the time and end up at the top, I wouldn't have busted my ass.

It is the American way. However, your daddy's not rich. I think it only works for the wealthy.

So much only works for the wealthy.

You'd almost think we didn't have a classless, egalitarian society.

The Republican Party Machine in Florida probably is crooked, as are all such machines, but I don't think it will ever match the Demos in Illinois, specific the Daily gang in Chicago. After JFK won Chicago by winning almost 100% of the vote, the Reps called "foul" and demanded a recount. Goodness Gracious, all the ballots had disappeared. Like somebody says at the time, "Once an election is stolen in Chicago, it stays stolen." This was important, because if Nixon had carried IL, a big state, the election might have gone to Congress if nobody had gotten a majority of electors. There was a third party canidate that year, who carried a few southern states and it would have beeen hard for anybody to get a majority.

This is not a complaint about the results of the 1960 election, by the way, just a comment on the crookedness of politics, both major parties.

Machines put me off politics for years. Then I realized that a pol is just a guy who goes to meetings. You don't have to become a candidate, just hit the local party caucus once and find out when the regular meetings are. You might have to stuff some envelopes or something, but you'll find so few people do it, your opinion, in very short order, will come to swing a lot of weight.

Just attend, help out, and try not to talk nonsense, and you can move a lot of minds. Party regulars are very few.

That is so sad. I believe I can read resentment in that feline face.

I was dreaming more along these lines, of course.
