I love sex (imagine most of us do otherwise we wouldn't be here...) but find that recently i've developed a predilection for both taking and being taken. Historically I was a giver in the traditional sense of the word, the good little whore if you will. Lately, however, I've found that I long to take as well - I want to make my man moan and beg, all at my hands/lips/teeth. Knowing that each and every whimper that escapes his mouth, his animalistic growls and groans, are all because of me.

I don't necessarily long to dominate but want to know that I'm in charge of his pleasure.

Agree/disagree?

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but that all still sounds like *giving* to me.

TAKING is when you're letting HIM pleasure YOU.

I disagree, I think that controlling the pleasure is taking but it may just be matter of semantics.

I guess it is pretty much a matter of semantics.

I think what you're describing is that feeling of "I'm doing this to him", which is pretty close to saying "I'm taking what I want from him". I know that I have those feelings when a girl responds to what I'm doing to her. Still, in those moments, I'm actually acting to GIVE her pleasure, even though it may feel, to some degree, like I'm imposing my will on her.

It's all good as long as it's consensual.

My personal view is that just taking the one role can lead to the dreaded 'getting into a rut' and boredom. I guess this is why a lot of people are on this site! Personally I agree, it is fun when roles are reversed....

I agree. For the most part I tend to be submissive, and really enjoy power exchange.

But some people and situations bring out the switch in me. Me wanting to hold the power, and use him for my pleasure. Me giving the instruction, and him wantonly and obediently following.

I love being on both sides of the power dynamic, and always have. It's hard to switch back and forth very rapidly– I like to explore each role fully, diving all the way in, but at the outset I'm very open to either. It does depend a lot on my partner – there are some people I want to worship and others whose servitude compels me.
