but that leaves a hole in the judiciary committee, one that will take repub help if another democrat is to be appointed to the position:

Feinstein's death leaves a 10-10 deadlock on the Judiciary Committee, which is in charge of reviewing presidential nominations to federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

Earlier this year, Republicans blocked a request by Schumer to allow a temporary Democratic stand-in on the Judiciary Committee while Feinstein recuperated. Historically, the Senate has not stood in the way of filling committee vacancies caused by a member's death.

Senate Republicans said on Friday they do not intend to contest a move to replace Feinstein on the committee after her death.

it wouldn't be unprecedented, though, if they did block judicial nominees like they did back in 2016.

Unlike some here, I don't revel in anyone's death, and I wish her family well in their time of grief.

But still serving at 90, and being a hot mess for at least the last ten years, she's one of many examples of why we need term limits and that goes for Scotus as well.

Agree (though for different reasons obviously). She should have resigned years ago, and did herself and her constituents no favors by lingering on for so long. Biden should follow suit- because it looks like we may be stuck voting for him again.
