Ok so now I'm on day hmmmm lesse *consults calendar*, oh yes, day 64 of a mystery illness(es). Ive been to the ER 3 times, to see three doctors, all "specialists" and had more lab tests than I care to count and they still don't know what's wrong with me. I've been off work since February 05.

So far I've been tested for.....
  • Eppstein-Barr - negative
  • Lupus - first test messed up, repeating tomorrow
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Whooping Cough - negative
  • Influenza - negative
  • 44 panel Allergy Test - pending
  • Black Lung - no not really

This all started as Bronchitis/Sinusitis back in the end of January around the 22nd or so. Since then Ive been to the hospital for dehydration, daily low grade fevers, hoarseness, loss of voice, fatigue, loss of sleep, loss of appetite, jaw pain, joint pain, and I'm sure I'm forgetting other things. The bronchitis/sinusitis also harbored some kind of virus and now Dr's think I have some other disease due to low immune system - no, not HIV. :p I tell ya, this goin to Dr's and getting no news is starting to really bother me! It fills me with irritation when a Dr looks at me and says "Hmmmm, Im stumped!" - all three have said this so far, along with 2 ER docs.

So, I beg of you DIAGNOSE ME! Bring it, please.

I wonder that they tested you for Lupus with a low immune system. That's usually characterized by a hyperactive one.

I suggest taking some herbal things to boost your immune system.

It's impossible to diagnose other than some kind of infection, probably bacterial. (The daily fevers)

I suggest taking Turmeric 3 times/day, for a few days.

It can't hurt, and you might feel better.

One ER Dr and two specialist thought it was worth testing for. I thought it was odd too. I'm also curious that it may be Sjorens' Syndrome.

I bet you feel better already.

Well, that was quick.

I have a mild case of Sjorens' Syndrome. It's the same situation. Your immune system would be in hyperdrive and you would be experiencing a lot of drying of the mouth and other areas.

Go and see a GOOD nutritionist, one that preferably has a medical background but has realised how important diet and nutrition is to our bodies and has re-focussed, and even more preferably one who understands why an ORGANIC diet is the only way to go. Seriously. If you were in Australia I would refer you to the GM of Gwinganna to put you onto the Nutritionist who lectures and operates out of their Spa. She is brilliant.

You should look into possible long term food allergies you might have (and not know that you have because your reaction to them is not acute) that are impacting on your immune system. A food allergy is nothing more than an immune system response, and when your immune system is constantly fighting things like dairy allergies (ie an immune reaction to the protein in dairy and a few hundred other things you never realised it was in) it can't fight other things as well as it should. This can lead to a gradual deterioration in your well being.

I would also go and see a GOOD Chinese Herbalist and keep the Herbalist across what you are doing with the Nutritionist.

I will bet you money that you will, over a period of a couple months at the most, feel significantly better if you follow an organic diet that avoids foods and substances that you have an allergy or intolerance to, and get some good natural herbal remedies into you.

It takes discipline, and you will find it challenges "conventional" wisdom at times, but it's not kooky, and it has strong acedemic and research support.

Doing these things I went from a 105 kg guy who just never felt 100% with his old childhood asthma acting up again to 88kgs and no idea where I left my ventolin 2 months ago. I eat more now than I did at my heaviest. I am 5'11 and I'm broad across the shoulders - carry a reasonable amount of muscle through my shoulders, back and chest thanks to being a swimmer from age 7 to 21 and a surfer all my life - so 88kgs is good for me. I can maintain it easily without being too fanatical. I got down to 80kgs, but I was flogging myself to stay at that weight, and at 37 I am trying to look after my joints after too much Rugby Union in my youth and a couple bad knee injuries.

Good luck with it.

you've been in my thoughts and prayers, kitty :rose:

i hope that they diagnose and fix you soon, you poor thing.

Do a tox screen. Your husband may be trying to kill you with drano or cyanide or something.

Wow. You're not the only one either... I know a couple people who've been sick since like January.

Is there one defining ailment?

Thank you for the sound, lived advice. It's encouraging to know someone's gone this route and been successful.

You might check this web site. It allows you to search by symptoms for commonly misdiagnosed illnesses.

It is just too hard to give any ideas without more info. I hope you can find a doctor to help you!

This is a really neat website, thank you for pointing me in it's direction.

No, it's all combined. I keep kidding one of my Dr's that he'll get a good paper out of me.

I mix 1 or 2 tsp in a small glass of milk whenever I'm feeling "down".

It's good stuff, cheap, too at any grocery store in the spice rack.

I'll look for some tomorrow. Thank you for the suggestion.

I once had a similar problem but my doctor couldn't figure out how to cure it. He kept telling me that I had a virus but wanted to run all sorts of tests. Finally, I went and saw a good Ear, Nose and Throat doctor. A throat culture revealed strep, but one that wasn't quite so common. With the right antibiotics, he was able to get me going again inside of a week.

It sounds a lot like the lupus symptoms I suffer from...

Back/neck pain, raynaud's phenomenon, joint aches, headaches, light sensitivity, insomnia, chronic fatigue (NOT syndrome), dehydration, and before I started getting treated, I had a low-grade fever every afternoon for two years straight that completely drained me of my energy.

Also, I get sick really easily, it hits me a lot harder, and lasts a lot longer. Probably my lack of immune system.

Good luck with your tests... PM me if you wanna chat. :p

I thought Lupus was one of those made up diseases. You know, like restless leg syndrome.

Fuck you, to me that's not even funny to joke about.

Seriously. I can't remember around 8 years of my life due to this crap due to being misdiagnosed with so many psychological things that I was overdrugged and can't remember most of my life... Went through it in a daze. And I'm only 18.

i had no idea that restless leg syndrome was so damaging.

Sorry to hear, 18 is much to young to be suffering with lupus.
