Its not "progress" when open space is developed. Its destruction of quality of life for people and wildlife.

It makes my blood boil when people arrogantly defend development.

This is one reason I'm not a libertarian (among others). Protecting open space and fighting development is crucial to quality of life for all.

90% of Americans live within a few miles of an Interstate.

We are not highly "developed."

Similarly, I've read that 90% of Canadians live within 50 miles of the US border.

A vast portion of our nation's land is of marginal utility and will never be "developed." That's why I am a Libertarian; the reality of economics verses the fear mongering of the Luddite contingent.
