"Tal, I know you don't want me to say this, but..."

A raised hand from the Titan silenced the floating device, causing the star-like frame of its body to whirr impatiently in the air. The Ghost, commonly referred to as "Clicker", had a real tendency to speak his mind quite often, even at times when it was completely inappropriate. It had gotten Talren, Titan and Guardian of The Last City of Man, to get into trouble numerous times. He still had the scars from when Shaxx, the master of the mighty arenas of The Crucible, had kicked his ass across the Tower because of Clicker's apt description of the Crucible Master's mother. This, among other incidents, had caused a new kind of rule between the pair: if Tal demanded silence, Clicker would deliver it.

Still, the whole gesture annoyed him beyond anything, so the little orb of light replied with a small blast of Light to the side of Talren's helmet.

"Ow!" Tal grunted angrily, his hand covering over the point of impact. When he was sure that there wasn't any injury or damage to his helmet, he gave his Ghost a furious glare through his visor. "Watch it, Clicker. Or do you really want me to jab out your eye again?" Tal warned, reminding him of a similar instance that happened not too long ago. Clicker frowned as much as his frame would let him; he definitely remembered that. "Hey. Don't interrupt me, Bubble Boy. Look, all I'm saying is, it's kind of shady. We intercepted that Cabal skirmish fleet creeping towards Earth. Blasted those turtles to kingdom come and sent them back to Mommy. Now, instead of getting a medal or a nice, hot oil bath... We get guard duty!"

As soon as Clicker finished his rant, he was smacked towards the ground by Tal's open hand. "Get over it, Lightbulb. Zavala wanted us to do this; we do it, then it's done and we won't have to do it again." Tal responded, rolling his wrist before his gloved hand went back to rest on the grip of his highly customised Auto Rifle, trigger finger resting on the guard. Despite his aches and pains, however, Clicker was right. Commander Zavala of the Titan Vanguard would have sent Talren to battlefields, to assist his fellow Guardians in laying waste to the Darkness that threatened their Earth.

Instead, he had sent him to escort a Hunter to The Ishtar Academy on Venus as she searched for information, clues and maybe even remnants of the Fallen war party that surged through the area some time ago. Normally, there would not be any cause for concern and the Fallen would inevitably be found and eradicated by patrolling Guardians on engram hunts for the Cryptarch. This time, however, was different; according to Cayde-6, the Vanguard Commander of The Hunters, the Fallen were wearing unknown House colours. "Must be a new group rising through the ranks... Or, y'know, a bunch of Skolas-wannabe groupies wearing purple." Cayde had added with a rather unsettling, unknowing shrug.

How that Exo ever got to the commanding ranks alongside Zavala and Ikora Rey, the Warlock Vanguard Commander, Tal would never know.

With a small sigh, the Titan turned away from the cave-like entranceway that he was guarding and gazed up towards the general location that he had last seen the Hunter, which was near the railing on the second floor of the library. "Hey, tracker! I don't suppose you could let me know how much longer this is going to take?" He asked, rolling his left shoulder and being rewarded with a soft crackle of relief.

Silently Nat skulked through the remnants of the library without much fuss. She hadn't ever been the chatty type, especially when she was out in the wild. Given the fact that she was sent by her superiors to find evidence of a currently unknown Fallen House it didn't seem like time to hem and haw. Unfortunately she wasn't given free reign to do her job, well, not entirely. For reasons she wasn't truly sure they had decided to send a Titan with her as well. It wasn't that Nat really cared about working as a team, but it just seemed like a waste of valuable resources for a simple scouting mission. Also, her companions Ghost was a chatty little bugger. It was nothing like her own, which she had dubbed 'Steven' simply because “He looked like a Steven”. The little light zipped through the air always keeping within a few yards of her person. Together they searched the area throughly, perhaps too throughly. Nat was a patient hunter and tracker, if she felt she had overlooked something she wasn't opposed to going over the area once or twice more.

That's where they were now, Nat and Steven were on their third scouring of the library at The Ishtar Academy. It was oddly quiet, she had found no sign of Vex or even Fallen activity, which didn't quiet sit right for her. It made her all the more curious and determined to find some trace of their current quarry. It was then that the voice of her companion echoed out across the ruins, resounding off the crumbling walls as it reached her ears. Nat let out a low sigh, which sounded more like a growl from within her respirator. There was a subtle hint of movement as Nat appeared near the railing, the place he had lost spotted her. Her svelte frame was clad in the form fitting, light weight armor that Hunter's preferred, the colors muted and matching her current environs. Her cowl hung low over her visor, shielding the reflective tint of her goggles. The cloak itself was tattered and frayed at the edges, old and worn but Nat wore it proudly.

“It might go faster if you wanted to step away from guarding that giant hole in the wall. I know it's not something yer accustomed to but...” Her voice carried from over the distances yet quickly drifted off into an awkward silence. From behind her goggles those hazel eyes narrowed and focused on something nearby the Titan, something that glinted like a twinkling jewel. She wanted to kick herself for not seeing it previously, though if it hadn't been for the sun's current position she wouldn't have even caught it.

“There!” She declared before grasping the railing and deftly leaping over it without hesitation. She landed gracefully before blinking out of existence and appearing near Tal suddenly.

“Here,” She pointed out and bent at the waist, her gloved hand snatching up an object half-buried in the dirt and foliage. She let her free hand settle on the Hand Cannon at her hip as she held crude looking dagger with a curious blue shimmer to it.

“Shock Dagger. In pretty good shape but was recently used from the looks of it. They came through here, maybe ran into some unwelcome company.” Nat stated matter-of-factly before she tossed the blade into the air and caught it by the flat of the blade. She held it before her companion, just in case he felt like examining it himself.

“They couldn't have gotten far.”

Tal raised his eyebrow at her reply, enjoying the matter-of-fact tone as much as he was annoyed by it. Now that he thought about it, the Titan was still surprised by the Hunter when he first met her upon deployment in the transmat zone. Tal (but mostly Clicker) was expecting a quiet, macho, "become-the-shadows" kind of guy that polished his Shotgun constantly. Instead, he was greeted by this slender, confident woman who wasn't afraid to talk smack.

Still, the comment needed a touch of tactical correction.

"I guess that Cayde never went through battlefield tactics with you guys in Hunter School. Listen up." He began, gesturing to the hole that led to the makeshift cave system of concrete and wire with the barrel of his rifle. "See that, there? That is a massive pain in the ass. The only other entryway is that small room on the other side of the Academy, which is a huge bottleneck. Any attack force that comes and goes through there is guranteed to get reduced to ashes."

He was about to illustrate why the massive hole could fit more enemy troops when the Hunter suddenly used her Blink ability, appearing beside him to pick up the Shock Dagger. As she described the weapon and held it up for him to inspect it, Tal tilted his head as his eyes locked onto a few more things about the dagger. "That's... Odd. The dried stain on the blade... It doesn't look like the oil that the Vex regularly spew out. It's more like Fallen blood..." His suspicions were soon confirmed as he felt Clicker float from his body and began to scan the ground around the location of the dagger.

"Welp, this is gonna be fun! Seems that our Elsinki friends got bored and decided to duke it out! Traces of blood, ether... Huh... Okay, what the hell. This is Solar Energy from a Vex Slap Rifle. Faint, but it was definitely what gooped the brains of that Shock Dagger's owner."

Nat gave the dagger another spin before she caught it and jabbed it into the nearby wall. She promptly forgot about it was the Titan's Ghost appeared and scanned the nearby scene. It concluded Ether, Fallen blood, even residue Solar Energy from Vex weaponry. The Hunter silently absorbed the information as she stalked about the scene. Her steps were lightly and surefooted, slow and agile. Very little energy was wasted in needless movement, the only thing that really moved about was the tattered cloak behind her.

“Sounds like one hell of a cluster went on here. But who ambushed who? And why did they bother trying to cover it up so throughly?” Nat voiced her questions aloud as she took to a squatting position and unsheathed her Hunter's knife and started to poke around in the dirt as well. She tilted her head a few degrees to the side, her hazel gaze shifting about as she started to absorb the scene more completely. She hummed lightly as she flipped over a rock, some debris before she glanced up and over her shoulder.

“Someone did a good job of it. But not good enough.” She concluded, sheathing her blade before she set her hands upon her knees and hoisted herself back up into a standing position. Without another word she turned back towards the way she came, her cloak fluttering out behind her with each step. After about a yard she stopped and turned back to regard the Titan, offering a noncommittal shrug before pointing in the direction she was headed.

“I know it conflicts with your 'battlefield tactics', but we might want to go this way. Just sayin' is all...” She finished and turned back towards the way she was going. The Hunter moved at a decent clip despite not disturbing a thing. She unholstered her hand cannon and checked the ammo, a habit she had of always wanting to be topped off, just in case.
