desperate need for an editor (female)

I have been submitting stories for quite a while. I am only too painfully aware that my stories are not polished. I have been seeking an editor for months. I have sent 70, yes 70 PM's to what appear to be female editors on the list. How many responses have I recieved?

I have sent them stories, yet months later what is the response?

Zilch, Nada, Nothing! A big empty vacuum. I have about fiifty chapters, of about 3 Lit pages each, of three novells waiting to be edited.

I dispared and submitted some of them anyway and of course got slammed by the trolls, you know those that lurk here, those that never create a thread, those that never ever submit a story, yet slam dunk anyone and everyone that offend them for what ever reason.

I need an editor!

How the fuck do I find one?

I know the thought of thousands of pages is daunting. I know just how much work is involved. I am editing other peoples work while I wait and wait and wait and wait and wait....

Please is there a FEMALE editor out there? Read what I have submitted to get a hint of my style.

Ok so why FEMALE?

Because I am trying to write stories, stroke stories, that will appeal to the female readers as well as the male readers and being MALE I need to get the reaction of a FEMALE before the story is released!

Yes I Know that this should be on the editors thread, but I have had a post there for four months!

Can I bribe a female with the carrot of a possible co-authorship of hot erotic stories.

Having read a sample of your works I'm not sure I could take this editing on. Mostly due to the amount of time I have available, but also some problems like the English/American language differences - I'd find it very tricky working around the US spellings and linguistic differences.

It's not the genre, I'm fairly broad minded... I have to say that I just felt your writing needed perhaps a little too much work... if it had been proof reading and re-aligning the odd comma then that would be fine, but I just felt that your writing needed a lot of refining almost to the point of rephrasing/rewriting some sections and I just haven't the time or energy for that on top of my own writing...

As I said i got fed up of PM'ing for an editor so submittted anyway some were very raw, only days old others had beeen around for years!

I confess to having a phobia about editors, especily upon a large work, a work one has sent years writing and refining. I rely heavily upon MSword punctuation and I know that it complains of 'Pasvie tense" rather often, but thats my style! I edit for a person who uses Dashes and double dashes all through her work and frankly I can see what she is trying to achive and leave them to her to sort out. i just pont out missaligned dashes, unpaired dashes etc
I know I have some skill I know I can improve but that is not going to happen with-out an sympatetic editor.

Please give me at least a critique of the story you read. I could always re-submitit it

Vermillion you are the first to have responded in any way. One story had 24,000 hits in a week, but only 20 votes and Zero feedback. I am dieing here!

Should I just give up?

no, don't give up. I will try and do a critique on that story, but you may have to wait a bit. I'm finishing a dissertation and revising for exams at the moment as well as writing my own stories, so my brain is all tired out.

It's my guess is that you are looking for more than an editor/writer relationship, or at the very least, giving that impression to prospective editors. The sex of your editor shouldn't matter. It is up to you, the writer, to make your work appeal to your target audience.
