If you could design a better bra, how would it be different from the standard bra of today?

I want a polar fleece bra. Really. I think it would be sooooo comfy! And toasty warm too. And if it must have underwires, they must figure out a way to make them not stab me.

That would be so comfortable!
I'd like it if you could find the cute little bra's that you see in the B & C cup only in the DD, and come on now, what's with the lunch lady straps? I believe you need a few clips for support, but there's like a mile of these in those bras!

Well, First off, How about a crossed back that's low cut enough it isn't considered a sports bra? That way you could wear it under normal clothes and still have support without having deep grooves in your shoulders?

Then, streamline the underwire, making it lay against the chest instead of poking into it, and make the casing around it alot more durable. Definately add support to the cups along with just the underwire, that way you don't have so much pressure on the underwire, and use softer edges in the metal/plastic of the bra's fittings. How about a better clasping mechanism? One that won't get bent out of shape in the dryer. Also, use more side support. Better shape under clothes and less of a pressure on the underwire. Relocating seams in certain sorts of Bras would also help the line under clothes.

Actually - I was thinking that it would certainly have an automatic unlock and I'd have a universal remote control for all bras...

Just a little advice to the women who have problems with underwire bras..

They aren't fitted properly if the underwire is poking you. I went a few years ago.. to an upscale underwear shop.. and had my bras properly fitted.

The lady helped with the proper way to wear underwire bras.. and the proper sizes.. I was buying mine all wrong..

She told me if the bra is properly fitted.. you won't even know the underwire is there.. she wasn't lying.. I'm a 36DD.. i wear underwire bras.. and have no problems..

I hate bras only because "sexy ones" are hard to find in my size..

but they aren't uncomfortable at all.. So no matter what size you wear.. go and have them properly fitted.. usually this is a free service.. you may have to buy one overly priced bra at the shop you go to.. but it's well worth it.

I'd make them so they don't get all tangled up in the washer/dryer. It's such a hassle to untangle them.

I will have to go get sized,as my underwires hurt me. Thanks for the advice,

I want a bra that makes you feels like you are not wearing one. Mine come off as soon as I am home.

the only good bra is no bra

fortunately (unfortunately?) for me, i have the body for no bra...i wear one for proprieties sake out in the world, but the minute i'm home, off it goes

it has no real function for me anyway, other than to hide my nipples in chilly air-conditioned workplaces

I posted a link to several online retailers for lingerie in those "hard-to-find sizes" in one of the breast threads a couple of weekends ago. If you can't dig them up, let me know and I'll post again. (Maybe I'll have a little willpower this time and not go shopping the next day)

Better bra is an oxymoron. There is nothing good about any bra.

I seen those links when you posted them.. i saved them.. and I have avoided them.. I've put myself on a very strict budget.. I counted my bras one day.. i have 12.. how many more do I need? LOL

I'll go shopping after I'm done losing weight.. hopefully I will need some new stuff by summer. :D

My wife got fitted properly with some new bras before Christmas. She was well impressed with how much more comfortable they were to wear than before.

One odd thing was she ended up with 2 different sizes from the same manufacturer. Both fitted great, but the sizing was a cup different.

Wow, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who tosses the bra as soon as I'm home! I also go braless when hiking and camping - that's my time and I'll jiggle if I want to (grin).

Please see the above. I prefer my wench to be braless. So, you should continue to take them off as soon as you walk through the door.

A bra that one doesn't have to keep fixing to make sure
it stays in place! And of course....comfortable is key!

crysede,
I'm a backpacker. I'll be looking forward to your jiggle on the trail! LOL :) If you backpack, does your bra interfere with the straps of the backpack?

To all...
Seems as if there are enough good ideas here to revolutionize the bra industry.

I want a bra where the straps don't slide off my shoulders. I think my boobs are pulling them down. Yep, that's gotta be it.

i second that!

I second that....I had forgotten to put fact in my orig.
post! :) I can't stand it when the straps slip off when
they're supposed to hold me up ;)

That used to happen to me all the time. It drove me nuts, especially when I was dancing. People probably thought it was a peculiar dance move - one hand up to adjust the bra step every two or three steps.

It stopped happening ever since I started lifting weights. I used to have no shoulders at all and now I have them, and voila, the problem is gone. :)

I don't do much real backpacking (mostly just portaging), but, in my limited experience, the biggest problem with wearing bras while backpacking, is having those sadistic metal fasteners digging into your back under a heavy pack. See you on the trail!

Would that be like a specialty bra shop? Or something like Nordstroms or Macy's?

A friend of mine likes to purchase hers at Sears, but I'm not sure if they offer fittings.

Think Frederick and Victoria. ;)

The underwire thing... I'm not all that large (36D) and the underwires aren't uncomfortable until they poke through the fabric and start working their way out of the bra. I just want a bra that the stupid things stay in!
