Describing Breastfeeding as ‘Natural’ Is Unethical Because It Reinforces Gender Role

Heatstreet's idea of a culture war is nothing but a slap fight. I'm surprised that a grown man bothers to read that tabloid crap.

Now babies have to be sacrificed on the altar of political correctness.

1.This is an excerpt from the abstract of the original article published by American Academy of Pediatrics:.

Unintended Consequences of Invoking the “Natural” in Breastfeeding Promotion
"Medical and public health organizations recommend that mothers exclusively breastfeed for at least 6 months.
Promoting breastfeeding as “natural” may be ethically problematic, and, even more troublingly, it may bolster this belief that “natural” approaches are presumptively healthier. This may ultimately challenge public health’s aims in other contexts, particularly childhood vaccination.
The measles outbreak of 2014–2015 sparked intense, condemnatory discussion of vaccine refusal.… "

2.And this is a summary of the rest of the article:

"The authors write that in addition to leading to health-related overgeneralization by some parents, breastfeeding-is-natural efforts "can inadvertently support biologically deterministic arguments about the roles of men and women in the family (for example, that women should be the primary caretakers of children)."

So initially I thought: well, they might be a bit over the top, but mayyyybe they might have a point about their concerns that it might lead to refusal of vaccination

But when I saw the second part about gender politics, I started agreeing with BB.

Looks like the PC madness and dissecting of every word is starting to permeate even more professional circles.

The article was written in 2016 (looks like BB has been busy scouting the net for ridiculous stuff.)
by two PhD's from the Department of Medicine.

It was clearly dismissed by others and inconsequential, because we haven't heard more since it was written.

But look what things have been keeping those PhD's busy. Obsessing about and dissecting every single word.
So erudite of them lol
