No, he isn't an authoritarian...he is just DeSanta gone Grinch!

Oh, and maybe he needs a refresher on Federal Labor Laws which require you to pay employees, public or private, for the work they do. If they work, they get paid.... period!

Is this one of those "States Rights" issues knuckleheads want back? Ya know...States should be able to do what ever they want including retribution via wage denial and garnishment if you don't follow illegal orders by Politicians?

"For the work they do." Still waiting on government to actually do something for the people. Most are a bunch of parasites.

YES!!!

Florida voted for him, they get him.

Same with every other state. The people of whatever state NEED to suffer the consequences of their vote, their politics and take responsibility for their democracy.

I don't even want to share civil rights.....most of us can't even agree on what those even are anymore.

Roads paved? Toilets flush? Water from your tap? Garbage picked up?
Trains run on time? Air planes don't fall out of the sky on a regular basis? Schools are open?

That is just a short list, the real list is hundreds of pages long.

Maybe go get a job in the public service, or heaven forbid, run for an office....now that would be fucking funny to see you find out the hard way what "government" work is like.....

The dude's off his rocker. A bunch of authoritarian edicts as if he's king and not governor.

They also voted for their school board members. Now where will you move the goal posts?

Do school board members in Florida have the authority to set policy over the governor and legislature of their state???

If FL law decrees that school board members and administrators are little god kings and queens with UNLIMITED POWER to do whatever the fuck they want then sure cuz they obviously voted for that.

But I'll need you to cite the law passed by the Florida legislature and governor granting them such authority as I don't think any such law exists.

I think (D) activist are just trying to subvert democracy because it didn't go their way.:)

Why have a school board then...why not just have the Governor prescribe all school curriculum and policy....makes perfect to anyone who complies with the party line. So, if DeSantis just changed his position, I guess he would be a god-king at the moment...chuckles!

Someone has escaped the looney farm.

So you can't show the law that designates school boards as autocratic gods??

Imagine that.....

Seems like you want State wide control from a distance at highest office.of the State and not local decision making?

Just want to understand what your saying you want?

School boards aren't autocratic gods, but the whole ostensible guiding principle of modern conservatism is that the second-best government (after no government at all, of course) is as close to the people as possible. Governor DeathSentence is violating that principle in the clearest way imaginable here.

Crickets? They have no answer as to why their favorite guy is n authoritarian autocrat.

The legal mandate varies by state. But it sure wasn't hard to find it. Add the word "florida" to the search "legal mandate for school board"

Thank you for verifying that School boards are not Thanos level gods who get to do whatever the fuck they want. :D

Even though power officially resides with the states, concerns about efficiency and local involvement are addressed through the delegation of authority from the legislative branch to the local school board. Although the powers and duties of the local board vary by state jurisdiction,

State control from a distance would be federal.

State control of the state, is not "at a distance".

What is and is not local, should be up to the state.

In line with (D)'s pro-centralized authority and top-down control model but not as nearly as extreme.

Making him more of a moderate.

So what?

Because he's not. You're just being an idiot.

Now he's begging Uncle Joe for Ventilators.

Perhaps Joe should say 'No without dropping your EO!' ?

Do you drive on roads? Get mail delivered? Have a secure border? Have a working phone? Have a computer? Use the internet? Shop at a grocery store? Work a 40 hour week? ... and so on and so on

The level of ignorance and brainwashing from this crowd is astounding.

I'm trying to figure out why putting the screws to superintendents who violate the Gov's EO is "authoritarian" when the EO effectively prevents those indovoduals from imposing harmful and unnecessary requirements on the citizens.

If this is authoritarianism, we need more of it.

Roads are good. I pay gas, license and other taxes for them.

Mail is a government monopoly that is pretty much no longer needed.

The border is nowhere near secure.

The phone companies do a good job of providing service, not the government. I've lived where the government was the phone company and it was a fucking fiasco.

Ditto computers

Ditto the internet

Ditto grocery stores

I rarely work as few as 40 hours.

Of course he is...all Republicans do this....hate the Federal Govt until they need it.

BLue states offering free shit, might as well take it since they are offering.

Still on board with that MC4A?? Gonna be paying for a LOT of anti-vaxxers bills.

I'm sure you're fine with that.

Do you have a secure border?

No. Because (D)'s are actively subverting our democracy and society. :)

It's "authoritarianism" because JaF0, WillJ and Peck don't understand the term.

That's why JaFo had to resort to manipulating your post to have any sort of response.

... how you can stand up in the morning without tripping over your over feet with those giant clown shoes.

Poor JaF0.....is mad when (R)'s do it!! :D

Fucking get some....if only more (R)'s had a fucking spine your lot would be in deep shit.

Do you use streets and roads? Taxes built them. Taxes pay the cops who patrol them to enforce traffic regulations and keep them safe. Taxes paid for all the signs and signals.
