Candidates backed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) successfully flipped control of the Miami Dade school board to Republican hands over controversy over race and gender studies.

Monica Colucci and Roberto Alonso were also backed by the 1776 Project PAC, which was formed to combat the implementation of critical race theory in local public school curricula.

"Both of our candidates in Miami Dade County, Florida just WON their elections, flipping the school board conservative. Miami Dade is now the LARGEST county in America with a conservative school board majority," read a tweet from the 1776 PAC.

The PAC also celebrated flipping school boards in Martin County Clay County, Sarasota County, and Duval County.

So what are they going to do- segregate the schools by race, mandate that "Coloreds" must ride in the back of the bus, and outlaw any teaching of the Holocaust or Civil Rights- or science?

The sad thing is, this is a legitimate question.

Since you asked so nicely...

DeSantis’ education agenda consists of keeping schools open and rejecting lockdowns, educating instead of indoctrinating, rejecting the use of critical race theory in the curriculum, and guaranteeing the right of parents to curriculum transparency. He also supports increasing teacher pay, expanding workforce development, and supporting robust civics education.

I'd like to hear DeSatan's expert opinion on CRT and how many hours he studied CRT before he and his merry band of dipshits start whining about indoctrination.

Since you asked so nicely...

  • A Philadelphia elementary school forced fifth-graders to celebrate “Black communism” and simulated a Black Power rally to “free Angela Davis” from prison. At this school, 87 percent of students will fail to achieve basic literacy by graduation. More here.
  • Seattle Public Schools told teachers that the education system is guilty of “spirit murder” against black children and that white teachers must “bankrupt [their] privilege in acknowledgement of [their] thieved inheritance.” More here.
  • San Diego Public Schools accused white teachers of being colonizers on stolen Native American land and told them “you are racist” and “you are upholding racist ideas, structures, and policies.” They recommended that the teachers undergo “antiracist therapy.” More here.
  • An elementary school in Cupertino, California forced third-graders to deconstruct their racial identities, then rank themselves according to their “power and privilege.” More here.

So that one book seller that DeSantis is funneling money into will have new customers.

Their goal is indoctrination at the expense of education.

Define "Indoctrination."

Because- and this is exactly the problem!- to these people, "Indoctrination" means "Teaching kids that racism and social injustice is not okay."
And also, teaching that slavery, Jim Crow laws, the Holocaust, Executive Order 9066, and the Trail of Tears were actual, real historical events and not just "Fake News" and "Woke Propaganda" or whatever the fuck the bigoted term de jour is.

If, on the other hand, a church teaches kids that they are supposed to hate on gays, and that black people are inferior and should be treated as such, Jews run the world and deserve to be exterminated, etc- then ironically these people have no issue with that at all.

De Santis's other parts of the agenda- expanding teacher salaries, workforce training, and civics education- I would assume most people, conservative AND liberal, would support. He does just need to get rid of the white-nationalist racist crap.

Don't you have any crosses to go burn on people's lawns, or something?

This is still America, not your KKK paradise.
We are blessed to live in the USA. 🇺🇸 Florida voters did well this week. Look forward to toasting you in November.🍻

You're unintentionally hilarious. You proudly vote against your own interests in a poor effort to "own the libz." How long do you idiots think you can pla that game before it totally implodes? We are already seeing it - like what just happened in New York.

Intriguing. What interests of mine am I voting against? Do tell!

IcanBabyboomerhelp supports candidates who support his racist/white nationalist ideals. Regarding schools, one of which is to forbid schools from teaching that racism is wrong. The other being, to force schools to deny any history of oppression of non-white people in America, or at least, to teach that it is justified.

So, while candidates like DeSantis might vote to increase his taxes, deny his health care, take away sexual and reproductive freedoms from other people, and other nefarious things that impact him negatively, he supports these type of candidates do to their ideas of racial hegemony- which ARE his primary interests.

Four members of the Broward County School Board in Florida have been suspended by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis for "a pattern of emboldening unacceptable behavior, including fraud and mismanagement."

Patricia Good, Donna Korn, Ann Murray and Laurie Rich Levinson have all been suspended from the board, effective immediately. DeSantis has appointed Torey Alston, Manual "Nandy" A. Serrano, Ryan Reiter, and Kevin Tynan as interim members in their stead.

"It is my duty to suspend people from office when there is clear evidence of incompetence, neglect of duty, misfeasance or malfeasance," DeSantis said in a statement. "This action is in the best interest of the residents and students of Broward County and all citizens of Florida."

DeSantis suspended the members at the behest of a grand jury which had been impaneled by the state supreme court after the horrific school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, back in February 2018. The job of the grand jury was to determine whether there had been any instances of fraud or mismanagement that may have caused lapses in security and safety in area schools.
