Gimme strength! The US health system is a busted flush - corrupt, unaffordable and looking to destroy the US position as the leading global economy. Health insurance cost was the primary reason why GM and not BMW collapsed.

There is a fundamental deficit in the US health system because we have allowed the vital distinctions between policy, finance and provision to be blurred.

There is a national debate to be had here on what we want and it is being subsumed by illiterate cries of 'Death panels' and Ami's 'Socialist medicine'.

I accept the Dems are equally at fault with their provatively partisan attacks.

We need a cool, independent review of how to deliver best healthcare to everyone - albeit keeping the right for people to top up their cover privately.

I give you one point here. Couldn't we do better with a non-profit mutual insurance system where the basic requirements are funded by taxation and hospitals are non-profit and work within a public-private scenario.

Mostly they dont want you to do the math.

According to the newspaper, if ObamaCare becomes law, in 2010 83% of America will be covered. That leaves about 51 MILLION uncovered, based on a population of 300 MILLION. By 2019 94% will be covered, still leaving 18 MILLION uncovered (if our population remains the same) but growth will boost the number to about 35 MILLION.

Lets see who these people are:

2.1 million are in jail or prison.
1.5 million are in the active military
20 Million Illegals w/o insurance. Extracted from CIS data.
